Beijing, February 11 (Xinhua) -- On February 11, in the women's 1000-meter short track speed skating competition at the Beijing Winter Olympics, Dutch star Shu erting won the championship, and South Korea's Choi Hyun-jin and Belgium's DeMei won the second and third places respectively. China's Qu Chunyu, Han Yutong and Zhang Chutong all exited in the quarterfinals and failed to reach the semifinals.

Schulting broke the world record with a time of 1:26.514 in the quarter-finals to advance to the semifinals with the first place in the group. Qu Chunyu and Han Yutong were in the same group as Shu Erting in the quarter-finals, ranking fourth and fifth in this group, while Zhang Chutong was fourth in the group in another quarter-final, and all three failed to reach the semi-finals.

In the final, Schultin won the championship with a time of 1:28.391, Italy's Fontana was convicted of a foul, and Cui Weizhen and DeMei won silver and bronze medals respectively.

The men's 500m preliminaries were also held on the same day, Ren Ziwei and Wu Dajing entered the quarter-finals as the first in the group, and Sun Long was sentenced to promotion due to fouls by opponents in the same group. The men's 500m quarterfinals will be played on the 13th, and the winner will be decided on the same day.

In the semi-finals of the men's 5,000m relay on the same day, the Chinese team was in the same group as Canada, Italy and Japan, and Wu Dajing, Ren Ziwei, Li Wenlong and Sun Long played.

When Li Wenlong had 11 laps left in the race, he fell out of the track due to the collision of the ice knife under his feet and the opponent's ice knife. Canada and Italy finished in the top two of the group and reached the final. When Li Wenlong fell, the Chinese team was in the top two, and according to the rules, the final referee ruled that the Chinese team also entered the final.

Yang Yang, a former short-track speed skating Olympic champion who watched the competition at the scene, told Xinhua News Agency that according to the new rules of the International Skating Federation, when an uncontrollable situation such as an ice knife collision on the field causes an accident, the referee can make a ruling based on the position of the relevant athlete on the field at that time and other factors to decide whether the relevant athlete can qualify.

Another group, South Korea and the Russian Olympic Committee, reached the final. The men's 5000m relay will determine the gold medal on the 16th.
