King Lear is a play by William Shakespeare and one of its four great tragedies. The story is based on an ancient British legend, and the story itself takes place around the 8th century. Many plays were later compiled in England, and in addition to Shakespeare, there is an earlier anonymous work, and it is generally believed that Shakespeare's King Lear was created by adapting this play.

The whole play has two parallel story lines. The main clue is that the ancient King of Britain, Lear, was old and dim-witted, and wanted to divide the land among his three daughters according to how much he loved him. The eldest daughter, Gorna Lear, and the second daughter, Reagan, both coaxed the old man with sweet words, but the younger daughter Cordelia told the truth, saying, "I love you only according to my name, not much, not much." Lear angrily expelled his younger daughter, married her to France, and divided the land equally between two hypocritical daughters, only to be mercilessly neglected by the two daughters, and ran into the wilderness in the storm in a fit of rage, with Edgar disguised as a madman. Later, the younger daughter came from France to fight, and finally the father and daughter met, but the British and French armies fought, the French army was defeated, Cordelia was captured, and soon hanged by Edmund's secret order, Lear held her body and died in a frenzy of grief. Another secondary clue is that the Earl of Gloucester listened to the rumors of his son Edmund and exiled his eldest son, Edgar. Later, because of his sympathy for Lear, he was gouged out of his eyes, and when he was wandering in the wilderness, he met his son Edgar, who had become a beggar, and he helped him forward, but he did not know that it was his son who was driven out of the house by himself. After the son Edmund inherited the title, he also hooked up with Lear's eldest daughter and second daughter, causing them to fight for the wind and kill each other, and finally the second daughter was poisoned, and the eldest daughter committed suicide after the plot to murder her husband was exposed. Edmond is challenged by Edgar and killed in a duel.
