Professor Huang explained that uveitis refers to inflammation of the uveal membrane, a membrane in the middle layer of the eyeball, which is a blinding eye disease that is more common in patients with rheumatism, rheumatoid, tuberculosis or other lesions. Unlike the congestion of conjunctivitis, the red eye of uveitis is called ciliary hyperemia in ophthalmology, which is the congestion of the whites of the eyes around the black eyeballs, which is called "red and red" in Chinese medicine.
Uveitis must be distinguished from these "pink eye"
Professor Huang reminded that if uveitis is delayed early, the complications and sequelae caused by it will spread widely and be quite tricky to treat. Early detection and early diagnosis and treatment are key, and must be diagnosed with the following "pink eye":
● Acute conjunctivitis: it is usually referred to as pink eye, most of which have obvious contact history, the biggest feature is that the eyes are astringent, hot, itchy, slimy eye feces, eye congestion and edema, tears, and this eye disease is infectious, but the treatment can be improved quickly and quickly.
●Acute congestive glaucoma: most of the elderly, sudden onset, often have obvious headaches, eye swelling and severe pain, rapid decline in vision or even blindness, significant increase in intraocular pressure, corneal edema, pupillary enlargement and mixed congestion. Topical medications, in contrast to acute uveitis, are used to lower intraocular pressure with mydriatic agents and are treated surgically as soon as possible.
●Subconjunctival hemorrhage: This disease is called "white eye hemorrhage" in Traditional Chinese medicine, and the bleeding subsides in ten days to half a month, and it occurs more often in the elderly. The disease may seem "scary" but the consequences are not serious.
