According to public information, Cao Jingxing was born in Shanghai in 1947, was admitted to the History Department of Fudan University in 1978, graduated in 1982 to work at the Institute of World Economics of the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences, and then moved to Hong Kong.

Cao Jingxing has worked for Hong Kong's Asia Weekly, Ming Pao, Communications Television and other media. In 1998, he entered Hong Kong Phoenix Satellite TV, and later served as the deputy director of Phoenix Satellite TV Information Station and the director of the speech department, as a current affairs commentator, he successively hosted and lectured on "Current Affairs Lecture", "Editor-in-Chief Time", "Oral History", "Style Of the Great National", "Jinghang Chang'an Avenue" and other programs.

After leaving Phoenix TV in 2009, Cao Jingxing served as a special commentator of the Central People's Radio, and also hosted programs in Zhejiang Radio, Jiangxi Satellite TV, Oriental Satellite TV and other media.

Cao Jingxing's father was Cao Juren, a famous journalist and writer during the Republic of China period, who had a good personal relationship with Lu Xun and wrote "Lu Xun's Commentary".
