On the evening of February 11, the men's individual big jump qualifying tournament for the Beijing Winter Olympics ended, and 20-year-old China's Song Qiwu jumped 94.5 meters and scored 50.7 points, ranking 55th, and failed to qualify. So far, Song Qiwu has participated in the men's individual standard platform, mixed team and individual big jumping platform competition in this Winter Olympic Games, ending his first Winter Olympic journey.

Song Qiwu, a 20-year-old native of Yanjiang District, Ziyang City, Sichuan Province, has loved sports since he was a child and has good physical fitness. Song Qiwu was selected for the Sichuan Provincial Athletics Team at the age of 13 and won the second place in the men's hurdles and the first place in the 400-meter relay at the Sichuan Athletics Championships until he entered the national ski jumping team in 2018.
Ski jumping is not an advantage for the Chinese Winter Olympics delegation. Since the first team to participate in the Winter Olympics in Calgary, Canada, in 1988, no Chinese team has won an Olympic medal in the event.

In January 2021, Song Qiwu jumped 141.5 meters in the first jump of the 120-meter big jump in Laiyuan, Hebei Province, breaking the national record for men's ski jumping. In August 2021, at the Intercontinental Cup in Romania, he secured a place for the Chinese team to participate in the Beijing Winter Olympics. After returning to China after the European competition, Song Qiwu performed well in the 3-stop Olympic trials (two firsts and one second), and finally successfully won the men's main event in the ski jumping event at the Beijing Winter Olympics.
