Finnair is fully renewed, investing €200 million to create a premium passenger experience

"Civil Aviation News of China" and "Civil Aviation Network of China" reporter Cao Shenshen reported: On February 10, Finnair officially announced its new cabin design for long-distance routes with large space, including new business class and exciting new premium economy class. This is part of the airline's significant investment in improving the passenger experience.

Finnair is fully renewed, investing €200 million to create a premium passenger experience

On the morning of the 10th, finland flag carrier, which is known for its shorter routes to Asia and Europe via the north, announced the 200 million euro investment at a press conference in Helsinki.

The entire cabin renewal program covers all Finnair Airbus A350 and A330 long-haul aircraft. The new cabin will be installed over the next two years, bringing with it a new Business Class, a new Premium Economy Class and a new Look.

Including the new service concept, the complete new cabin experience will be available on select Finnair long-haul routes in spring 2022. The specific route will be announced when it goes on sale on March 1, 2022.

Topi Manner, CEO of Finnair, said: "Our investment in improving the passenger experience on long-haul routes underscores Finnair's long-standing commitment to creating a high-end cabin experience in all classes. ”

"The pandemic has had a huge impact on the aviation industry, but that hasn't changed our determination to deliver a modern, high-end travel experience, as we're still the first choice for travellers travelling between Europe and Asia."

Finnair has also worked closely with Collins Aerospace to develop and pioneer the adoption of a new concept of business class seats that maximise the comfortable space that passengers can move flexibly.

Its unique fixed shell seats can accommodate a variety of sitting and sleeping positions, allowing passengers to enjoy easy long-distance flights and have their own space.

Ole Orvér, Finnair's Chief Commercial Officer, said: "Space is luxury. At the same time, we have also put a lot of effort into the details and are committed to creating high-quality business class seats for passengers. ”

"The seating and the entire Business Class experience are centred on passenger comfort, a sense of space and diversity of choices, which is the epitome of our design philosophy. It will be systematically presented on our long-haul airliners, redefining modern high-end travel. ”

"We will be completing the cabin renewal of long-haul aircraft in the next two years and look forward to allowing passengers to experience the new Finnair as soon as possible."

Finnair's Nordic design language and warm, dark and comfortable colour schemes run through business and premium class, in line with Finnair's 2019 colours and design style of the new non-Schengen lounges launched at Helsinki Airport.

The main entrances of each cabin are equipped with a stylish new entrance area and snack bar, which not only makes a good impression on passengers, but also makes it possible for the cabin crew to offer a new cabin service.

The new and upgraded Business Class also brings a new service concept to further enhance the passenger experience.

Passengers will enjoy a variety of dishes using new cutlery designed specifically for Finnair by top Finnish designers Harri Koskinen and Littala.

At the same time, Finnish design brand Marimekko has also designed a series of unique textiles for Finnair, further setting off the warm and bright atmosphere on board and creating a high-end flight experience for passengers. This collection includes duvets and pillows in Business Class, as well as neck pillows and blankets in Premium Economy.

Finnair's new Premium Economy Class will be deployed on all long-haul aircraft for the first time, providing long-haul passengers with a comfortable and stylish new cabin option.

"High-end casual is a trend that has become more pronounced during the pandemic. That's why we believe the new Premium Economy Class with comfortable seats and more space will be popular among passengers looking for an Economy Class upgrade experience. Ole Orvér added.

Finnair has also invested in a new Economy Class on long-haul routes, equipping its A330 and three A350 aircraft with new seats, a larger in-flight entertainment system display and a new user interface.

The 16 Finnair A350 aircraft will also feature a new seat cover and a new version of the in-flight entertainment user experience, in line with the design of the new Business Class and Premium Economy Class.

Long-haul flights are strategically important to Finnair, not only by efficiently connecting Europe and Asia with their shorter, fuel-efficient northern routes, but also to numerous U.S. destinations.

Finnair plans to serve nearly 100 destinations in Europe, Asia and the US in the summer of 2022, including new long-haul routes to Busan in South Korea, Haneda Airport in Tokyo, Japan, Dallas and Seattle in the United States.
