On the evening of February 10, the final of the Free SkiIng Aerial Skills Mixed Group for the Beijing Winter Olympics was held in Yunding Ski Park, Zhangjiakou Competition Area. Xu Mengtao, Jia Zongyang and Qi Guangpu 3 veterans China won the silver medal, the gold medal belonged to the United States team, and the Canadian team won the bronze medal.

Last December, the FIS Free Skiing Aerial Skills World Cup won the Lucca station in Finland and became a favorite of the Winter Olympics. Facing the first match of the new Winter Olympic Games, the Chinese team made a lot of preparations. The three veterans who participated in the Winter Olympics for the fourth time were Xu Mengtao, Jia Zongyang and Qi Guangpu.
Three players from 6 teams appeared in turn. The top 4 teams in the first round advanced to the second round of determining medal ownership.
In the first round of the competition, the Chinese team took the lead. After scoring 104.31 points on the U.S. team Caldwell with super difficulty, Xu Mengtao, the first to represent the Chinese team, also challenged the world's highest difficulty of the women's players and scored 94.01 points; the first place after the jump, the American team, ranked first, while the Chinese team ranked second.
Jia Zongyang successfully challenged the difficulty of 4425 and scored 124.78 points, helping the Chinese team jump to the first place.
Qi Guangpu completed the 4525 strenuous move in the third jump, helping China rank first in the overall score and advancing to the second round of the finals with the United States, Canada and Switzerland.
In the second round of the final, both Switzerland and Canada made a mistake in the first jump. Jia Zongyang, the second in the Chinese team, was fouled in the game and the situation was reversed.
The sky skill of free skiing is the traditional advantage of Ice and Snow Sports in China – so far, a total of 1 gold, 6 silver and 4 bronze have been won at the Winter Olympics. The only gold medal came from the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin and was won by Han Xiaopeng.
During the Beijing Winter Olympics, the free ski aerial skills event had three minor events, namely men's, women's and mixed teams. Among them, the Free Ski Aerial Skills Mixed Group event held on the evening of October was the first gold of three gold medals – the event is a new minor event for the Beijing Winter Olympics. Each team sends 2 men and 1 woman to participate in the competition, which is divided into two rounds, and the highest score of each player is the team's total score.
Xu Mengtao's outstanding overall strength in the competition is an excellent performance.
Ultimately, without expanding the scale of the competition, the Third Quarter Winter Olympics added seven small events, including the Speed Skating Mixed Relay and the Free Ski Aerial Technology Mixed Group.
The number of gold medals has increased to a record 109; the Chinese team has won the championship in the short track speed skating 2000m mixed relay competition, and the freestyle ski aerial technology mixed team is indispensable for the Chinese team.
At that time, the Chinese team sent the first and second teams to participate in the competition, one composed of Jia Zongyang, Qi Guangpu, Xu Mengtao, and the second team consisting of Yan Ting, Wang Xindi and Wu Shudi.
Despite high expectations for the project, the national team remains relatively low-key.
Before the Winter Olympics, the Chinese team won the championship with different squads: in the first match, Xu Mengtao and Jia Zongyang and Qi Guangpu competed. The three veterans were consistent and managed to win the championship with an overall score of 343.24 points.
In the second match, the Chinese team replaced the lineup. Xu Mengtao, Qi Guangpu and young teenager Sun Jiaxu reached the top again with a total score of 354.87 points, showing strong overall strength.
The biggest threat to the Chinese team is the Russian Olympic team with Maxim and Pavel and the Swiss team with mixed group gold medalists at the 2019 World Championships, with an average age of 22 years old.
During the pre-match training on February 9, the Russian media also came to the scene to report and follow up on team leader Maxim. Maxim also showed good form during the training process - starting, jumping and flipping in the air.
Among these athletes in the mixed team competition, the most concerned nature is Xu Mengtao, a 32-year-old veteran who participated in the Winter Olympics for the fourth time.
After missing a season in international competitions, Xu Mengtao showed good form. He reached the podium in 4 of the 6 races and won two titles. The 27 World Cup individual gold medals also allowed her to make a project history.
Like Xu Mengtao, Jia Zongyang and Qi Guangpu of the men's team are also the elders of the Four Dynasties.
Unfortunately, Jia Zongyang missed the final round, and the Chinese team regrettably won the silver medal.
But after the competition, the Chinese athletes comforted and hugged each other.
