Jacobus Baas came to the United States as a teenager and his interest in art has become indelible. He began painting in high school and received a solid education in the creative process. After graduation, he traveled extensively throughout Europe, visiting many famous museums and deepening his appreciation of fine art.

Upon returning to the United States, Jacobus Baas decided to take his creativity in a new direction that would allow him to unleash his artistic talents and provide him with some financial stability. He began designing and making jewelry. His unique original work has attracted many followers and contributed to his success as a goldsmith, but he continues to pursue his first love, painting, and exhibiting his jewels and paintings at the Laguna Beach Festival since 1978.
