Ireland's Jack Gower excelled on the slopes, finishing 12th in today's Men's Alpine Team at the Beijing Winter Olympics. This is Ireland's best alpine skiing ever, and Ireland's most recent Winter Olympics were in 2002.

In this event, Austria's Johannes Strolz made an incredible comeback, winning the gold medal, beating Norway's Aleksander Aamodt Kilde in first place, and Canada's James Crawford in third place.

After the race, Jack Gower said: "It's crazy to have 30,000 runners in alpine skiing and finish 12th at the Olympics! What can I say? That's good enough! The project was Jack Gower's second-best result in Ireland at the Winter Olympics. Jack Gower was also ireland's only player to compete today.

Earlier this week, Jack Gower suffered defeat in the men's grand division, finishing only 31st in the men's downhill race.
