Today, I have a very special gift for you, so let him give it to you in the most unique way! Today we are going to the beautiful Black Forest, the name of the Black Forest comes from the German Schwarzwald, which means Black Forest. It is a famous natural scenic area in southwest Germany. More precisely, we're going to Schiltach, a small town in the eastern Part of Germany's Black Forest with only about 4,000 inhabitants, so many Germans don't know much about the town, but it's too much to visit. The special thing is that the town was built around the 12th century, and since then the appearance of the town has not changed much, and it has remained until now. There are nice houses in medieval style. Known as "the prettiest town in the Black Forest". The efforts people put in to protect their city and the greatness of the city are fascinating. Of course, this is not only about the well-preserved city, the truth is that the people here also seem to live in the old times. For example, a medieval farmer's market is held once a year, in which the original time is recreated. When dealers and craftsmen show up and offer their goods, all visitors can feel the feeling of stepping back in time, which is a great experience. Everyone here will also wear 12th-century costumes, very original.
Another highlight is "Schiltacher Flöser". Flooding was once a very important industry in the region and has a long history here. The Black Forest used to be and the forest is very rich, so workers cut down trees here and tied them together to make rafts. They used these rafts to sail across the Hiltag river to the Rhine, and from here to the Netherlands. Here you can sell tree trunks at high prices, as the Netherlands requires a lot of wood as building materials. In the past, the people here were already very wealthy because they made very early forms of export.
But now we definitely have to go for a good meal, and today I'm going to introduce you to one of my favorite dishes. It is a typical German dish, very authentic, called Kasespatzle. Kasespatzle is a type of noodle that can only be bought in southern Germany and then fried in a pan with cheese. Add a little salt, pepper and roasted onions (some even cream) and you're good to go.
