The countdown to the Beijing Winter Olympics has amazed the world with the twenty-four solar terms, and today, Suzhou embroidery girls are non-stop, embroidering with non-heritage Su, presenting the Jiangnan season.
On February 9, the embroidery ladies of the Suzhou Embroidery Research Institute rushed to produce Su embroidery works with the theme of "Spring" one stitch after another, and these works will meet with the majority of Suzhou citizens in March.
Two fingers pinching a thin needle, like a dragonfly dotting water into the embroidery cloth, the invisible color thread dripping into the brocade; the hand pulls the color thread slowly straightened, the needle out, the thread breaks, a lifelike red peony flower blooms on the embroidery cloth, a spring breath with Gusu flavor comes to the face.

Watching suzhou reporters come to the Suzhou Embroidery Research Institute (hereinafter referred to as the "Institute"), in the embroidery studio, only to see 5 or 6 embroidery girls already concentrating on making Su embroidery works with the theme of "spring".
According to reports, most of the inspiration for these Su embroidery works comes from the paintings of Suzhou painters and ancient paintings of the Qianlong period. These embroideries are based on the theme of spring flowers and birds, using the art and culture of Suzhou to show the scenery of spring at different times, and full of beautiful meanings for the new year.
Faye Wong, who came to the institute in 2002, is making "Years of Dynasty Diagram ▪ Kaishao", which is derived from a painting by the Qianlong Emperor of the Qing Dynasty, and the embroidery depicts pine bamboo plums, daffodils, ganoderma lucidum, water carrots and so on.
This work officially began embroidery a few years ago and is expected to be completed in March, "The purity and elegance of 'Three Friends of the Cold Years' in this work are very consistent with the atmosphere of Suzhou." The opening of spring is the season of the revival of all things, and the water carrot echoes the custom of 'biting spring', which means a bumper harvest of fruits and vegetables and a beautiful year. Faye Wong told the Suzhou reporter.
"I feel very proud!" He Xianchun, who has been engaged in Su embroidery for more than 20 years, excitedly showed her work "Don't Have a Fragrance to Lead the Butterfly Dance" to reporters. The flowering period of peonies is generally around Gu Yu, and this embroidery inspired by the paintings of Suzhou painter Wu Yuechen vividly expresses the brilliance of the peonies on the "tail" in spring and the liveliness of butterflies.
He Xianchun said: "The spring of the Year of the Tiger comes on the snow, the Ruixue Mega Year, I feel particularly happy to be able to show the warm vitality of this spring to the citizens of Suzhou through Su embroidery!" ”
According to reports, after completion, these works will be framed in combination with the style and present different forms. For example, "Kaishao" is an ancient painting, which will have more classical charm; "Don't Have a Fragrance to Attract Butterflies Dance" is a four-screen screen, full of vitality.
The countdown to the festival of the Beijing Winter Olympics exploded all over the network, and this has become an important reason for the institute to rush to produce "spring" Su embroidery. Dashu, deputy general manager of Suzhou embroidery, said, "We arranged for the works to be completed at the corresponding season, hoping to present the atmosphere and culture of Jiangnan season through traditional non-heritage Suzhou embroidery."
According to the Suzhou reporter, these works will be completed in March this year, and will be displayed and sold in the exhibition hall of the institute, and will also participate in this year's arts and crafts exhibition.
"Next, our institute will continue to innovate on the basis of shouzheng and interpret Jiangnan culture in the new context with the technical language of non-heritage Su embroidery." Dashu told the Suzhou reporter.
