The site of the double locust tree is located 2 kilometers south of the south bank of the Yellow River and 4 kilometers east of the Yiluo River in Gongyi City, Zhengzhou City, Henan Province. The site is about 1500 meters long from east to west, about 780 meters wide from north to south, and the remaining area is 1.17 million square meters, which is located in the central area of Heluo Culture. In order to carry out the research of the "Chinese Civilization Exploration Project", Zhengzhou City, Henan Province, carried out archaeological work on the site of the double locust tree located in Heluo Town, Gongyi, Henan. After research, archaeologists confirmed that the site is dated to the middle and late Yangshao culture, dating back about 5300 years, and is called "the embryo of early Chinese civilization" by experts. Two walls were built in the southern part of the residential area, which were enclosed with the northern inner moat to form a closed half-moon structure, forming a more typical urn city architectural structure. Three burial areas were found in the site, and a total of more than 1,700 tombs from the Yangshao culture period were found, with the tomb owner leaning back and straight, and the head facing west. The large rammed earth foundation site is located in the middle of the inner trench, in front of the residential area, and the construction site is used with a considerable time span. The rammed soil of the large-scale version is well preserved, and the length of some plates is more than 100 meters, the thickness of the rammed earth is more than 2 meters, and the widest point is more than 9 meters. Archaeologists say that the earliest building on this site is the largest building of the same period in China, and the 15-bay large building built after it has the characteristics of a large palace building.

In the central site, the remains of the "Big Dipper Nine Stars" pattern placed in nine clay pots were found, and the pointing of the Big Dipper Nine Stars bucket handle coincided with the direction of the winter solstice. Generally, the ancients would choose to carry out heavenly sacrifice activities on the winter solstice, which also shows that as early as 5300 years ago, the double locust tree people may have had a more mature "heaven and earth" cosmology. The site unearthed a bone silkworm carving that attracted the attention of archaeologists, made of wild boar fangs, which is about 6.4 cm long and less than 1 cm wide, with a head and tail, resembling a silkworm. It found proof that the ancestors of Gongyi 5300 years ago had mastered the art of sericulture, indicating that not only the earliest silk was in China, but also the earliest silkworm domestication and silkworm silk. More pottery pieces, a small number of complete pottery and stone tools, as well as a large number of mussel shells, animal teeth, fish bones, animal bones and so on have been excavated from the site.
