On February 7, 17-year-old Chinese teenager Su Yiming made history by winning the silver medal in men's slope slalom at the Beijing Winter Olympics, the first Winter Olympic medal for men's snowboarding in China. Su Yiming once followed the snowboard jumping and slope obstacle course national training team in Chengdu to prepare for the Winter Olympics, and in 2021 transferred his student status from Jilin No. 1 Middle School to Chengdu Experimental Chinese School.
As a "park city under the snowy mountains", as of the end of 2021, Chengdu has 11 real ice rinks, 2 snow fields and 3 dry snow rinks, with an ice rink area of about 16,000 square meters and a snow field area of about 7 square kilometers. The Jianfeng Dry Snow Four Seasons Ski Resort in Xindu, Chengdu, is the largest dry snow field in southwest China, and it also has a 43-meter-high and 112-meter-long dry-snow jump for training in the Winter Olympic games.
Previously, national ski teams including snowboard big jump and slope obstacle courses, snowboard U-shaped tracks, freestyle ski big jumps and slope obstacle courses, freestyle ski U-shaped tracks, cross-border cross-sports snowboard big jumps, cross-border cross-sports freestyle skiing big jumps, cross-sports freestyle skiing U-shaped venues and other national ski teams have conducted half-year anti-seasonal training in Chengdu in preparation for the Beijing Winter Olympics. As a member of the national training team for snowboard jumping and slope obstacle courses, Su Yiming naturally trained with the team in Chengdu and constantly challenged the world's most difficult moves in the dry snow field in Chengdu.
