Green Winter Olympics | Building ~ green and low carbon, ecology first

author:Nanjing ecological environment

The Green Winter Olympics is an important concept of the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics, which requires environmental protection requirements in terms of venue facilities, technical support, and energy use. The Winter Olympics will have a large number of environmental elements, such as architecture.

In addition to the cold wind and snow, of course, there is also a six-piece set of "sweet potatoes, chestnuts, hot pots, autumn pants, hot milk tea" in winter, and the circle boy does not forget to collect a series of winter sentences for you who are about to wear autumn pants.

Beijing: The carbon emissions of ice production in venues tend to be close to zero

The National Speed Skating Hall "Ice Ribbon" is the iconic venue in the main beijing area of the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics and the only newly built ice competition venue. "Ice Ribbon" is an environmentally friendly and energy-saving green venue. The CO2 transcritical direct cold ice making technology used in the venue is currently one of the most advanced, environmentally friendly and efficient ice making technologies in the world.

Because the façade of the stadium is made of more than 3,000 pieces of curved glass, the National Speed Skating Hall creates 22 high and low spiraling ribbons that flutter around, like the trajectory left on the ice surface when the speed skater slides in at high speed, symbolizing the combination of speed and passion, if you look closely, you can also see that the transparent glass body of the façade is decorated with white patterns like ice crystals. In addition to the unique architectural design, energy conservation and environmental protection also dare to innovate. The venue will take the lead in using carbon dioxide transcritical direct cooling to make ice, and carbon emissions will be close to zero. This is the first in The history of the Olympic Games and the world.

Ma Jin, head of the special design of the national speed skating hall sports process ice making project, introduced that this technology can not only provide a highly balanced ice surface for the competition, but also save more than 20% of energy consumption compared with the traditional ice refrigeration technology, or even reach 30%. In addition, our venue also has a set of intelligent energy comprehensive utilization system, which can use the waste heat generated by the refrigeration system for the dehumidification of the entire venue, the hot water of the stadium ice repair and the domestic hot water of the venue. In the case of all-ice surface, only the refrigeration part can save at least 2 million kWh of electricity per year, and if heat recovery is taken into account, the ice production of the venue is close to zero carbon emissions.

A significant feature of the venues in the Beijing Area of the Winter Olympics is the extensive use of the existing venues of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games to achieve the transformation function of winter and summer sports venues. For example, the National Aquatics Center we are familiar with, the "Water Cube", during the Winter Olympics, it will become the "Ice Cube" and become a competition venue for curling events. However, behind the changes in the conversion of water ice, it is the site structure, temperature, humidity, lighting, acoustics and other aspects of directional scientific research to ensure that the pool is pumped and replaced with ice surface, and the site is still stable in the case of temperature field changes.

Yang Qiyong, general manager of the National Aquatics Center, said that the transformation of existing venues will greatly reduce investment, and "water ice conversion" will achieve the concept of sustainable development at a relatively small cost.

Yang Qiyong said that in fact, whether it is the slight tremor of the venue, the change of air, the change of ice temperature, or the condensation, frost and sublimation of the ice surface within one millimeter, such flaws will affect the athlete's play. We study the physical properties of ice and the risks it brings to the extreme, eliminate this risk to the extreme, it should be said that the ice water conversion solves the general situation of the summer peak season of the swimming stadium, and the winter off-season, I think it is also a necessary weapon for the sustainable development of the stadium.

Yanqing Division: More than 80,000 surface soils were stripped for mixed repair

The "sustainability" of the Yanqing Division is not only reflected in the post-game utilization of the venue, but also throughout the construction process.

Liang Dedong, director of the environmental protection and sustainable development working group of Beijing Beikong Jingao Construction Co., Ltd., introduced that in the construction of Yanqing Competition Area, original ecological restoration measures were taken to make full use of the area's own resources to minimize human disturbances, and to avoid the loss of topsoil layers that may be caused by the construction of roads, ski slopes, auxiliary buildings, etc., it is necessary to carry out topsoil stripping work before construction.

Liang Dedong introduced that this topsoil is a very important resource, which contains local microbiota and will promote the growth of native plants. Once destroyed it is difficult to recover, so we must protect it well. At present, before other units enter the market, all these topsoils are stripped off and then stored in bags. At present, our entire competition area should have stripped a total of more than 80,000 pieces of soil, and now all these topsoils have been mixed into the three major repair areas, and this effect is also very good.

Zhangjiakou Division: Collects 250,000 square meters of water every year as water for snowmaking

Located in the Chongli Area of Zhangjiakou, Genting Ski Park hosts freestyle skiing and snowboarding competitions for the Winter Olympics. Shu Wen, head of Miyuan Tourist Resort Co., Ltd., introduced that the snowmelt water and natural precipitation will be efficiently recycled and stored, and can be used as snowmaking water during the snow season, so as to achieve the sustainability of regional water resources.

Shu Wen introduced that every year after the snow season is over, the snow will melt. We made drainage channels, diverted this water into the reservoir, and then collected this water, and every year we could collect about 250,000 square meters of water for the annual snow season to make water.

Liu Xinping, director of the Sustainable Development Division of the Overall Planning Department of the Beijing Winter Olympics Organizing Committee, said that in order to reduce the adverse impact on the ecological environment, the Beijing Winter Olympics implement the principle of ecological protection priority in the whole process of venue planning, construction, operation and post-game utilization, maximize the use of existing venues and facilities, build or renovate venues and facilities in accordance with green building standards, protect the ecological environment of the competition area with high standards, and promote harmony between man and nature.
