Jia Yanmei, instructor of the multi-storey paper-cutting studio of the School of Art and Design of Shangqiu Normal University, said.
As the representative inheritor of the intangible cultural heritage of Shangqiu City" "folk multi-layer paper-cutting", Teacher Jia Yanmei led the team to carefully create 4 paper-cut works, which were recognized by the organizing committee as the "national gift" of the Beijing Winter Olympics. Three of the works are 7 meters long and 18 centimeters wide, and the works mainly contain Chinese elements such as the Great Wall and many urban landmarks.
On February 4th, China welcomed the Winter Olympic Games, and the teachers and students of the multi-layer paper-cutting studio also specially designed nine one-meter diameter group flowers to send blessings for the Beijing Winter Olympic Games.
Tuanhua is one of the oldest and most traditional layout formats in paper-cutting, folding diagonally for two, three, four, and five times, and can cut out several evenly sided figures. The overall shape is mostly round, symbolizing reunion and beauty, and is deeply loved by everyone.

Under the leadership of the instructors Bai Yu and Jia Yanmei, the students of the paper-cutting studio finally established the main theme of the design after many discussions. On the one hand, the design of the Olympic team flower shows the Olympic style and the spirit of taking responsibility as a big country, and at the same time reflects the inheritance and innovation of traditional Chinese culture. Therefore, the studio extracted auspicious patterns such as the emblem of the Winter Olympic Games, the ice pier, the snow rongrong, the Winter Olympic project, the heroic posture of the arena, and the year of the tiger as creative elements. After a week of careful design and repeated revisions, ten students created 7 Winter Olympic group flowers and 2 Winter Paralympic group flowers. The students were very happy to be able to participate in this design, cheered for the Winter Olympics, and cheered for China.

In fact, this is not the first time they have made a national ceremony. As early as December 2015, the 14th meeting of the Council of Heads of Government (Prime Ministers) of the SCO Member States was held in Zhengzhou, and the team of teachers and students of Jia Yanmei was invited to produce a paper-cut portrait of the "National Ceremony", and the works were collected by the heads of government of many countries.
