Xin Dongwang (1963-2014) represents the painter of new realistic oil paintings. His works focus on the low-level and marginalized people in life, showing the dreams and confusion of migrant workers and urban disadvantaged people. It shows the mirror image of the times and the people's livelihood problems in Chinese society since the reform and opening up. In artistic creation, Xin Dongwang pursues the "truth of the spirit", transcends the "vision" with "mental awareness" and expresses the "mood" of life. Before his death, Xin Dongwang was a professor at the Academy of Fine Arts of Tsinghua University.
