Winter Olympic alpine skiing 2 athletes fell injured! Ski Doctor Launches "Race for Life"

In 2 minutes, the ski doctor arrives at the scene; in 5 minutes, the wounded are transferred to the medical station; in 28 minutes, the wounded arrive at the designated hospital in the Winter Olympic zone... At the top of haituo, which is "flying straight down", the ski doctors responsible for the medical protection of the alpine skiing project of the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics are racing every second to carry out the rescue and treatment work of "life racing".

Due to excessive winds at the summit, the alpine skiing competition that was supposed to take place on February 6 was cancelled. In order not to affect the schedule, the International Snow Federation decided to add the 6-day competition to the 7-day schedule. Two alpine skiing competitions, the men's downhill and the women's super slalom, were held at noon and afternoon. For ski doctors, it's bound to be an extremely stressful and hectic day – the pressure on medical care is doubling.

At 6:00 a.m., the medical security team members set off from the station with stars on their heads. At 7 o'clock, the team arrived at the designated location, 6 medical stations were opened at the same time, 20 FOPs (trackside medical stations) were arranged next to the racing and competitive tracks and training lanes, and the instructions of the medical officer and the deputy medical officer were issued from time to time on the walkie-talkie.

"We were fully prepared and ready to go, but we wanted the event to be 'nothing to do' and everyone was safe." Before the game, Liang Xueya said so. But the race is exciting and dangerous – the alpine ski center is located in Xiaohaituo Mountain in Yanqing District, where The Hill is more than 2,000 meters above sea level, the main track is more than 3,000 meters long, and the vertical height is more than 900 meters, which is equivalent to the height of 300 floors. When downhill, the world's top male athletes can speed more than 140 kilometers per hour. At the Winter Olympics, athletes sprinted with all their might, with a 15% chance of injury.

At 12 o'clock on the same day, in the men's downhill race, an athlete fell down at a speed of more than 130 kilometers per hour, rushed out of the track to touch the net, and slid tens of meters on the slope. The ski doctor immediately launched a rescue: 2 minutes, the trauma orthopedic surgeon arrived at the scene, quickly examined the injury, relieved the athlete's pain, and fixed his left shoulder and forearm; in 5 minutes, the rescue team transferred the injured person to the racing athlete medical station, and the sports medicine doctor quickly handled the injury; 15 minutes, the referral process started; and in 28 minutes, the injured athlete was transferred to the Winter Olympic special area of the designated hospital for treatment.

In the women's super slalom event at 16:00 on the same day, an athlete also fell near the finish line, and the medical officer judged that the athlete was not lightly injured through the TV footage in the command room. The ski doctor obeyed the order and crossed the finish area in only 1 minute to rush to the wounded, and after 10 minutes, the rescue ship quickly transported the injured to the competitive athlete medical station, where the trauma orthopedic surgeon diagnosed, bandaged and fixed, and after 15 minutes, the injured were transferred to the designated hospital.

This speed of treatment has been trained through countless tests and trainings, "in such a situation, the meaning of time is life is extremely clear." We know what kind of mission we have on our shoulders. Liang Xueya said.
