In the Winter transfer window in January, Inter loaned full-back Robin Gossens from Atalanta. At the time, the player was also linked to a move to Newcastle in the Premier League.

Inter will sign the player permanently for £21m, or around €25 million, after the end of their loan period.

Last season, Robin Gossens performed well with Atalanta. He also had a good performance in last summer's European Championship matches.

Robin Gossens, 27, revealed the German player that Newcastle offered a more lucrative offer in the winter window, giving up enough treatment for his family for generations in order to join Inter Milan.

Foreign media reported that Newcastle offered Gossens a weekly salary of £57,000, which would triple the German player's salary. Inter offers a weekly salary of £42,000.

Based on four weeks a month and 52 weeks a year, Newcastle offers a salary of £240,000 more per month than Inter, and £3.12 million more per year.

Robin Gossens said joining Newcastle was not in line with his sporting ideals.

Robin Gossons said in an interview with the German press: "I received a contract, but I declined. Going over there would jeopardize my athletic goals. I could have used this money to live for generations in my family.
