The WSF Championship is about to kick off in Sheffield, with athletes competing on an all-time high

The upcoming WSF (World Snooker Association) Tournament will be one of the largest international snooker events in recent times, with 319 players from 44 different countries and regions competing for professional qualification on the World Snooker Tour.

The WSF Championship, which will be held from 15 to 26 February 2022 at Ding Junhui Snooker House in Sheffield, UK, will include two major mixed-race competitions, the WSF Junior Championship (February 15-18) and the WSF Open (February 19-26). The winner of each competition will qualify for both the 2022/23 and 2023/24 seasons.

WSF Junior Championship

The Junior Championship will be open to under-17 players (i.e. under 17 years of age by 12 and 31 december 2021). Compared with the 56 players in 2020, this year there will be 68 players from 20 different countries and regions. The winner of the last tournament is China's Gao Yang, who is now a professional player.

Ben Mertens – the youngest player to win a match at the World Championships

Stan Moody – 2022 Singles Limited Time Round of 64

Bauxer Rivaz – former Hungarian national champion

WSF Open

Due to the popularity of 280 players from 43 countries and regions, the tournament will start on February 19 a day in advance. Both Lo and Ashley Hugh Gill have won the tournament.

This year's number of entrants is significantly higher than the 89 in 2018 and the 152 in 2020. In addition to the men's players from all over the world, leading players from the World Women's Snooker Tour and the World Para Billiards and Snooker Tour signed up.

After the registration deadline on January 31, the signing form and format will be announced by February 10. Officials will contact all participating players with information such as practice table bookings.
