Mr. Bian Runzi graduated from the School of History and Culture of Shaanxi Normal University and is now a history teacher at the Affiliated Middle School of Shaanxi Normal University.
He said: "When I first saw the visual map of the north square of Xi'an Railway Station, I learned that the transformation of the north square will open up the central axis connected to Danfengmen Square. According to records, there are 5 gates on the south wall of Daming Palace, from west to east, xing'an gate, Jianfu gate, Danfeng gate, Wangxian gate, and Yanzheng gate. In addition, when the Tang Dynasty built the Daming Palace, it also opened up the north-south street 'Danfengmen Avenue' with a width of 'one hundred and twenty steps' opposite the Danfeng Gate, which is 176 meters wide, which is the central axis opened by this transformation. ”
According to Teacher Bian, according to the records, when Danfengmen Avenue was built, it passed through Guangzhai and Yongchang 2 Fangs to form 4 small squares, and the location through it was not in the middle street of the above 2 squares but in the east, so the northwest and southwest sides of the 4 small squares were slightly larger, and the northeast and southeast sides were slightly smaller.
"These four small shops are Guangzhaifang in the northwest, Yongchangfang in the southwest, Yishanfang in the northeast, and Laitingfang in the southeast." Teacher Bian said, "According to historical records, the west side of the north square of the railway station should be marked with Guangzhaifang and the east side should be Yishanfang, but the actual labeling is a number of chaotic labels of 'Guangzhaifang' and 'Yishanfang' on the east and west sides, at least 4, which is obviously not in line with the rectangular Lifang system of Tang Chang'an. ”
In addition, Teacher Bian also mentioned that according to the records, the Danfeng Gate was not easy to use, mainly when the emperor drove the Imperial Hanyuan Hall to hold the Great Dynasty. "Therefore, Zhang Hu of the Tang Dynasty wrote in the poem "Yuan Ri Battle", 'The Emperor is a royal han yuan hall, and the Danfeng Gate is open to the white sun', so it can be said that this Danfengmen Street, which is about 176 meters wide, is a veritable 'Tianzi Dao' in the Tang Dynasty, and after the transformation, it is reopened, and we ordinary people can also take this 'Tianzi Dao'!"
Therefore, despite some mistakes, Teacher Bian still believes that the design of the transformation of the north square of the railway station to open up the central axis and mark Chang'an Lifang makes people feel the connection between ancient and modern, and the design concept is worthy of praise.
"Maybe the construction personnel did not understand the design well enough to make such a mistake, and I hope to correct it as soon as possible." Teacher Bian said.
