In the women's 3,000m final of the Beijing Winter Olympics speed skating on February 5, China's Han Mei and Akhnar Adak finished 15th and 17th in 4:04.74 and 4:12.28, respectively.
Both athletes set new their own plains bests in the competition, with Han Mei's previous plains best being 4:08.47, which he skated at the 2019 World Championships in February 2019;
Ahenar's previous plains best was 4:14.21, which he slid out of the 2020 Four Continents Championship in January 2020.
In this competition, The Netherlands' Schauten broke the Olympic record and won the gold medal in the event with a time of 3:56.93.
