Yonhap News Agency reported on September 21 that South Korean President Moon Jae-in attended the general debate of the 76th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York on the 21st and delivered a speech, proposing that the ROK, the DPRK, the United States, or the ROK, the DPRK, and the United States jointly declare the end of the war on the Korean Peninsula.

Moon Jae-in said that the declaration of the end of the war by the relevant parties will be the starting point for establishing a new order of reconciliation and cooperation on the Korean Peninsula. He called on the international community to unite the declaration of the final stop on the Korean Peninsula, and said that the issuance of the declaration of the end of the war can open an era of irreversible denuclearization and permanent peace.

Moon Jae-in proposed to the DPRK that the reunion of separated families of the ROK and the DPRK be promoted as soon as possible, and that they should jointly respond to infectious diseases and natural disasters through participation in the Northeast Asian cooperation mechanism for epidemic prevention and health. He said the two Koreas joined the United Nations at the same time 30 years ago not to maintain a permanent division. It is hoped that the international community and the ROK will continue to extend a hand of cooperation to the DPRK in order to make peace firmly entrenched on the Korean Peninsula and thus contribute to the prosperity of Northeast Asia.

Moon Jae-in said that the starting point of peace on the Korean Peninsula is always dialogue and cooperation, and I hope that the DPRK-DPRK and the DPRK-US dialogue will resume as soon as possible, and I will go all out to achieve win-win and cooperation on the Korean Peninsula during the remaining term of office. It is worth mentioning that Moon did not mention in his speech that North Korea's recent series of shells have exacerbated tensions.
