U.S. consumer sues Apple for "fooling users" with IP68 Court: Dismissed

The plaintiffs' lawsuit states that Apple claims the iPhone is superior in water resistance, but the test environment is limited to the laboratory and does not include everyday environments such as swimming pools or seawater. Recently, the court finally dismissed the plaintiff's lawsuit on the grounds that there was "not enough evidence to prove that Apple exaggerated waterproofness for profit".

However, there have been similar but successful prosecution cases: in November 2020, Italy's antitrust regulator fined Apple 10 million euros for "unfair business practices related to iPhone marketing" on Apple for "misleading claims about how deep and how long the iPhone can be immersed in water without damage", without mentioning the test environment.

Although many flagship mobile phones now support the IP68 dustproof and waterproof function, but after a long time of use, its sealing will be partially affected, users please try to avoid letting the mobile phone contact with the water source.
