Gao Shi (704–765), courtesy name Dafu, was a member of Bohai County, Cangzhou (present-day Jing County, Hebei). During the Tang Dynasty, he was a minister and poet of The Frontier, and the grandson of Andong Dugu Gao Kan. In 749, Jinshi and Di were conferred the title of Lieutenant of Qiu County. In 756, he escorted Tang Xuanzong into Chengdu and was promoted to the rank of doctor. He served as an envoy to Huainan jiedu to fight against the rebellion of Li Xuan, the Yong king. He fought against the Anshi rebels and rescued the siege of Suiyang, and successively served as the envoy of The Crown Prince Zhan Shi, Peng Shu Erzhou Assassin Shi, and Jiannan Dongchuan Jiedushi. Representative works include "Yan Song Xing", "Five Songs of Ji Men Xing", "Plugging Up", "Sai Xia Qu", "Ji Zhong Zuo", "Three Songs of Nine Songs", etc., praising the soldiers' pride in bravely serving the country and making meritorious achievements, and also writing about the hardships of their military life and their good wishes for peace, and exposing the arrogance and lavishness of the border generals, the unsatisfactory soldiers and the court's rewards and punishments, the helplessness of the border, and the feelings of worrying about the country and loving the people.
