"What's so hard about the Long March? The Central Plains hundred wars are idle. This familiar verse was written by a man who was once one of the giants of the New Fourth Army, and he was praised by great men. When the New Fourth Army was first established, it was the great man who recommended him to become the director of the political department of the New Fourth Army.
However, such a revolutionary predecessor who was able to write and fight, at the age of 35, after paying the party fee, suddenly raised his gun and committed suicide, although his only son also became a pillar of the country, but at the age of 35, he left in such a tragic way, which made the world feel sad.

First, the teenager has just grown up
The 35-year-old new Fourth Army giant who committed suicide with a gun is Yuan Guoping, who was born in a small village in Shaodong, Hunan Province, his family is very poor, and he relies on bullet cotton for many years to make a living, but his long-term father believes that reading is the way out for such a poor family, so the family works hard, saves money, and only sends Yuan Guoping to study.
Yuan Guoping, who was very sensible at a young age, knew the ardent expectations of his family and the hard-won opportunities for his own study, he studied diligently since he was a child, and his academic performance has always been among the best. Later, he was admitted to the Hunan First Normal School for the first time and went to university with excellent results at public expense.
During his studies at the First Normal School, Yuan Guoping actively participated in patriotic speech activities, and in these speech activities, he met Cai Hesen and He Shuheng, who also had patriotic feelings. During this period, his surging youth blood infected one patriot after another. In 1925, Yuan Guoping, struggling to find a way out of the country, joined the Communist Party of China and officially became a member of the Communist Party of China.
After that, the Whampoa Military Academy began to enroll students, and Yuan Guoping was admitted to the Political Department of the Whampoa Military Academy under the arrangement of the Communist Party of China, where he not only studied advanced military theory, but also participated in various large and small practical exercises, accumulated rich experience, and laid a solid foundation for the battles he later participated in.
Second, the talent is highlighted
After the defeat of the Great Revolution, Yuan Guoping participated in the Nanchang Uprising and the Guangzhou Uprising, and although these uprisings eventually ended in failure, Yuan Guoping accumulated rich combat experience in these battles. Later, after the establishment of the New Fourth Army, because of his outstanding achievements in political propaganda, the great man recommended him to become the director of the political department of the New Fourth Army.
In the New Fourth Army, Yuan Guoping still lived up to expectations, and the speech experience accumulated during his study at the Hunan First Normal School once again played a role. During the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, our troops lost one after another on the frontal battlefield and their morale was low, and Yuan Guoping tirelessly encouraged the soldiers to cheer them up, and again and again they were gassed with their high fighting spirit and patriotic feelings.
It is said that every time Yuan Guoping gave a speech to the soldiers, he could see the excited tears and confidence of the soldiers in the audience once again returning to the smile on his chest. After each speech, the audience was full of thunderous applause, and he pointed out the way forward for countless soldiers who were confused in the war, and gave them encouragement.
Because of Yuan Guoping's first-rate eloquence and extraordinary insight, the great man once boasted that he was the "pillar of morale" of our army and held that Yuan Guoping, the director of the political department, was an indispensable presence in the New Fourth Army; Comrade Chen Yi also applauded him, calling him a "agitator propagandist" of our army, and it was difficult for our army to leave Comrade Yuan Guoping.
And Yuan Guoping, who is full of patriotic feelings, has indeed exerted his talents to the extreme, saving a bout of low morale. Yuan Guoping not only encouraged the soldiers, he also encouraged himself, and in each battle, he, the director of the political department, carried cannons and guns with the soldiers.
He looks like a weak scholar on the outside, gentle as a jade, he is never weak on the battlefield, always rushing to the front, and the slogan is always the loudest he shouts. Yuan Guoping not only verbally encouraged the fighting spirit of the warriors, he also gave the warriors the motivation and became an example for the warriors.
3. Tragic martyrdom
It is very regrettable and helpless that such a heroic predecessor who brought "spiritual food" to the Red Army did not see the dawn of the victory of the revolution after all. If there had been no incident, no war, Yuan Guoping would not have paid the party fee in order not to drag down his comrades-in-arms, so that he could kill himself in the middle of the night with a gun.
In the spring of 1941, the New Fourth Army suddenly encountered a surprise attack by the enemy in the southern Anhui region. The incident in southern Anhui caused heavy casualties to members of the New Fourth Army, and Yuan Guoping was also shot several times in this surprise attack, seriously injured and unconscious. Later, he was discovered by other comrades-in-arms and escaped with a unconscious man.
Because Yuan Guoping was too badly injured, unable to walk, and did not have the tools to carry him, the comrades who broke through took turns to carry him forward, and on the way Yuan Guoping woke up and watched his comrades around him fall one by one in order to save himself, the "dying man" who was strafed by the enemy's machine gun, he was heartbroken, and let the comrades-in-arms walk their own, leaving him alone.
Yuan Guoping begged his comrades-in-arms all the way to let go of themselves, and the comrades-in-arms were always unwilling to give up their director Yuan, so they went east and west, and at night, when the comrades-in-arms were resting, the weak Yuan Guoping trembled and handed over the few silver dollars left on his body to his company commander, saying that he should pay the party fee, and troubled him to help him pay the party fee.
In the middle of the night, after Yuan Guoping was asleep, he secretly took out his own gun and raised his gun to commit suicide. The moment he handed the silver dollar to the company commander, he thought of committing suicide, hoping to reduce the drag on everyone. Yuan Guoping's sacrifice in such a heroic way made the soldiers present burst into tears, and the soldiers buried Yuan Guoping in place as a sign.
In 1955, Yuan Guoping's remains were transferred by the state to the Chrysanthemum Terrace in Nanjing, so that the martyr could enjoy the honor he deserved, and he deserved to be treated as a martyr who sacrificed for the country.
Fourth, the son becomes a pillar
After Yuan Guoping's sacrifice, everyone was sad and could not help themselves, and the saddest of them was his wife. Yuan Guoping's wife is named Qiu Yihan, she is not only Yuan Guoping's life partner, but also Yuan Guoping's revolutionary comrade-in-arms, Qiu Yihan once rescued his comrade-in-arms, shot in the right arm, and eventually fell permanently disabled.
The bad news of Yuan Guoping's sacrifice did not crush this strong woman. Because she knows why her husband died, she also knows what kind of situation her husband wants to see most. She continued to devote herself actively to the revolutionary cause and dedicated her strength.
While serving the country, Qiu Yihan did not reduce the requirements for her son, she told her son about the heroic deeds of her father Yuan Guoping and the hardships on her long march. Instilling her patriotic feelings in her son one by one, she told her son over and over again that his father, Yuan Guoping, was a hero.
She attaches great importance to her son's studies, so that his son can follow his father's example and become a pillar of talent and martial arts. In the end, she successfully raised her son, Yuan Zhenwei, who inherited his father's business and became a heroic major general in the People's Liberation Army, as his parents hoped, and became the pillar of the country.
5. Summary
It is precisely because of Yuan Guoping, these heroic revolutionary ancestors, that we can have such a stable, harmonious and colorful life today. People's happiness now has a share of those revolutionary ancestors who sacrificed heroically, and everyone in today's society should also have the patriotic feeling of "reading for the rise of China" like Premier Zhou.
I think that if the countless soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the country like Comrade Yuan Guoping can see the new China today, they must be relieved and excited in their hearts, although they have not been able to see such a beautiful China, but this is the fruit of their victory, and this has their share. Let people pay tribute to these revolutionary ancestors!
