Shandong is one of the main birthplaces of folk paper-cutting, where there are many kinds of paper-cutting and uses are different. Every New Year's Day, the farmhouse's window flowers, window skirts, window winds, window side, window notes, door notes, and flower character couplet paper cuts, auspicious celebrations are red and fiery, with far-reaching meanings; the lanterns and flowers on the fifteenth day of the first month are rich and colorful; the connotation of the qianlong on the second day of February is mysterious; the scorpion cutters of the Valley Rain Festival are pest-removing; the five poisonous gourds of the Dragon Boat Festival are repelled from evil spirits; the window flowers of the seventh of July are begging; and the paper-cutting single clothes on the fifteenth of July are worshipped to worship the ancestors and tell the ancestors the meaning of autumn.

"The gold scissors on hand transport the east wind, and the characters leap from the mountains and rivers to the same distance." This is a poem written by Mr. Guo Moruo on September 3, 1959 for Shandong folk paper-cutting.
