The Golden Jubilee Award film "Little England" unveiled a retrospective of Greek cinema

Beijing, September 23 (Xinhua) -- As an important project of the Year of Cultural Exchange and Cultural Industry Cooperation between China and Greece, the 2017 Greek Film Retrospective Exhibition, co-sponsored by the China Film Archive and the Ministry of Culture and Sports of Greece, opened in Beijing on the evening of the 23rd. "Little England", which won the Golden Jubilee Award for Best Film and Best Actress at the 17th Shanghai International Film Festival, became the opening film of the film.

Greece is the birthplace of Western civilization and an important node of the "Belt and Road" in Europe. At the initiative of the leaders of the two countries, the Year of Cultural Exchange and Cultural Industry Cooperation between China and Greece was launched in April this year. In order to enhance political mutual trust, deepen people-to-people friendship, and promote strategic cooperation, many cultural activities are gradually unfolding in the two countries.

At the opening ceremony of the film festival on the evening of the 23rd, Yan Chengsheng, deputy director of the Department of International Cooperation of the State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television, said: "Over the years, Greece's development in the film field has been admirable, and we have been deeply impressed by philosophical film stories and film genres with rich themes. It is believed that the holding of this film festival will become an important opportunity for Chinese people to feel Greek culture and read the charm of Greek cities. ”

The Greek Minister of Culture and Sports, Litia Cornior, said that Chinese films and Greek films share the same good qualities: while having a long history and culture rooted in history and culture, they are committed to exploring innovation and sharing new technologies and stories with local and international audiences; the film festival will open a multi-faceted long-term cooperative relationship between the film industries of the two countries.

The opening film of the festival, "Little England", is the masterpiece of Greek contemporary director Pandoli Fogari, telling a love tragedy with a strong marine flavor, which won two awards in 2014, the Golden Jubilee Award for Best Film and Best Actress at the 17th Shanghai International Film Festival.

In addition to "Little England", eight films, including the Greek film director Michalis Kakoyanis's masterpiece "Greek Mythology" trilogy, will be screened in China.
