On January 28, the list of Chinese delegations to the Beijing Winter Olympics has been officially announced, and the total number of Chinese sports delegations at the Beijing Winter Olympics is 387, including 176 athletes. Among them, Shanghai athletes Ying Qing, Zhen Heng and Liu Wei were selected, and Ying Qing will participate in the women's snowmobile event; Liu Wei and Zhen Heng will also participate in the men's snowmobile event with their partners.
Ying Qing, Zhen Heng and Liu Wei are all talents transported by Shanghai No. 2 Sports School (Sports Middle School) and Athletics Center.
Born in 1997, Ying Qing registered with Shanghai Xuhui Sports School in 2009 for athletics 100 meters hurdles. In 2011, she entered the Shanghai Athletics Youth Team, in 2012 she entered the Shanghai Athletics First Team, and also trained with Sun Haiping, which can be said to be Liu Xiang's sister.
In 2015, coinciding with the national selection of young players in the snowmobile project to form a national team, she entered a new winter sports through "cross-border cross-sports selection". The talented Ying Qing has rapidly improved in just two years, emerging in domestic and foreign competitions, qualifying for the 2016-2017 German Snowmobile World Championships and successfully reaching the finals; in 2017, the first National Snowmobile Championship and Pyeongchang Winter Olympic Test Event, he won the women's singles and doubles cart race and the women's duo skating competition, which was very eye-catching. In the North American Cup Whistler snowmobile race in November 2017, Ying Qing and another Shanghai player, He Xinyi, defeated the international top players in one fell swoop and won the third place; in the subsequent Calgary leg, the two girls reached the top podium.
On December 20, 2019, ying Qing won the championship with a total of 1:50.73 in two rounds of the women's single bobsleigh series in Reysee, Germany. In the 2021-22 season, Ying Qing participated in many snowmobile World Cup events and achieved good results. After the tempering of the competition, Ying Qing ranked 11th in the final ranking of the women's snowmobilers of the International Snowmobile and Steel Frame Snowmobile Federation this season, the highest ranking among all Chinese athletes.
At the Beijing Winter Olympics, Ying Qing will compete in the women's singles and doubles snowmobiles.
The two male players, Zhen Heng and Liu Wei, were born in 1998, and in January 2022, they were both selected for the snowmobile national team training camp at the same time, and through layers of screening, the two finally got the opportunity to participate in the Beijing Winter Olympics. In the men's four-man snowmobile race of the 2018-2019 ISF World Youth Championship, Liu Wei's partner Sun Kaizhi, Wu Qingze and Wu Zhitao defeated the Romanian duo in the second round with a margin of 0.01 seconds to win the U23 class championship. In January 2022, he was selected for the national snowmobile training team, and in the men's double bobsleigh final of the subsequent Bobsleigh World Cup in St. Moritz, Switzerland, Liu Wei partnered with Li Chunjian to finish 21st with a time of 1:06.91.
In the men's four-man snowmobile final of the International Snowmobile Federation World Youth Championships held in February 2020, Zhen Heng's partners Sun Kaizhi, Ye Jielong and Shi Hao helped the Chinese team defend the championship with a time of 1:52.34.
