G Rajesh, a defense lawyer at the High Court of Madras, India, filed a lawsuit with police against reserve bank of India officials. The officials reportedly did not stand up and sing the Tamil national anthem during the Republican Day celebrations.

The complaint alleges that the officials misinterpreted an order passed by Justice GR Swaminathan.

A riot broke out on Republic of India Day, with officials from the Reserve Bank of India not coming forward to sing the Tamil national anthem, claiming the court had said there was no need. However, when onlookers informed them of the state government's order, the officials left.

Tamil Nadu Finance Minister PTR Thiagarajan and Minister of Information and Broadcasting (I&B) Mano Thangaraj condemned the issue.
