After Xiaomei was drunk, Peng took her to the hotel to use an overdose of narcotic drugs, intending to rape, but unexpectedly led to Xiaomei's death.

The lawyer representing the case entrusted by Xiaomei's family told reporters: "Peng's behavior involved rape causing death, and the crime indicted by the procuratorate is accurate. Mr. Mo, Xiaomei's uncle, said in an interview with reporters that he hoped that the court could give a heavier judgment and give his niece a truth.

On February 9, the Gaoming Branch of the Foshan Municipal Public Security Bureau revealed in a notice that Xiaomei joined a construction engineering company at the end of 2020, and she and Peng were both employees of the company's data room. At about 22:00 on January 23, Peng and Xiaomei ate a supper together, and then the two went to karaoke to sing and drink. Purple Cow News reporter learned from the indictment provided by Xiaomei's family that Xiaomei was in a state of lost love at that time, and after the department head Peng learned the news, he took the initiative to invite Xiaomei to eat and drink and waited for the opportunity to rape.
At about 2:00 a.m. on the 24th, Xiaomei was taken into a room in an apartment apartment that had been opened in advance by Peng in a drunken state. The indictment shows that at about 2:00 a.m. on January 24, when the two were staying in the same hotel room together, Peng took advantage of Xiaomei's sleep and poured sevoflurane on a tissue and placed it under Xiaomei's nose to inhale it, causing Xiaomei to commit adultery after coma, but Peng failed to succeed due to his own reasons.
At about 5 a.m., Peng found Xiaomei unconscious, and because she was afraid that the matter would be exposed, she went out to discard the sevoflurane bottles and sex toys. He then returned to the room and called the police at about 6 o'clock to lie that Xiaomei was drunk and unconscious. After the arrival of medical staff, it was confirmed that Xiaomei was dead. According to forensic medical identification, the victim Xiaomei died of acute respiratory and circulatory dysfunction caused by sevoflurane poisoning.
The indictment also revealed that since 2018, Peng Mou, because he found that he had sexual dysfunction, watched the video of adultery, purchased sex toys online, a variety of sleeping pills and anesthetic drugs sevoflurane, etc., waiting for the opportunity to commit crimes. On February 3, 2021, Peng was criminally detained by the Gaoming Branch of the Foshan Municipal Public Security Bureau on suspicion of rape. On February 10, the Gaoming District People's Procuratorate of Foshan City approved his arrest.

Xiaomei's family also revealed to reporters that Peng's family has not taken the initiative to communicate or apologize with them, but only said through the court that they have collected 100,000 yuan in compensation, hoping to exchange for a letter of understanding, which was resolutely rejected by all the victims' families. The Foshan Municipal People's Procuratorate held that defendant Peng X, against the will of the woman, used narcotic drugs to forcibly have sexual relations with a woman, resulting in the death of one person, and his behavior violated the provisions of subparagraph (6) of the third paragraph of article 236 of the Criminal Law of the People's Republic of China, the facts of the crime were clear, the evidence was credible and sufficient, and he should be investigated for criminal responsibility for the crime of rape.
