Classmates draw with children with cerebral palsy.
Normal children walk standing when they are young, and children with cerebral palsy crawl and walk when they are young, but they do not cry, they are a group of heart-wrenching "slow angels". On December 13, they also had a table with you. On this day, 8 children from Guizhou Aizhiquan Social Welfare Service Center and students from Longjing Primary School attended an art class together and felt the fun of sharing the same table. Located in the Middle East community of Yunyan District, Guiyang City, Aizhiquan currently has more than 40 special children such as cerebral palsy, autism and developmental delay, who are eager to be cared for and accepted.
"I also have a table with you"
On December 13th, the "Same Table Project" advocacy activity initiated by Aizhiquan entered Longjing Primary School in Yanzhong Community, allowing children with special needs to enter the school, feel the atmosphere of the school, interact with the students of the school, and feel the fun of sharing the same table.
At 3 p.m., in the art classroom of Longjing Elementary School, the students of Longjing Elementary School showed great enthusiasm for the arrival of the eight children of The Fountain of Love. The school has set the desks in a circle, each table has one or two children of the Fountain of Love, and the students have carefully prepared watercolor pens and cardboard for the children to use in art classes.
With the help of teachers and classmates, the children completed their own works, the Christmas tree, through drawing, coloring and other links, which won warm applause from everyone. Subsequently, the students of Longjing Primary School and the children held a party, performing dance, recitation and other talent displays, the program was vivid and interesting, and won everyone's applause. After the children of Aizhiquan sang "Worms Fly", the students of Longjing Elementary School presented gifts to the children, and the activity ended successfully.
"Whenever I think back to my student days, 'you at the same table' is the warmest topic in people's minds. However, many children with cerebral palsy do not have the opportunity to go to school and cannot have their own tablemates like ordinary children. Li Xian, the person in charge of Aizhiquan, told reporters that cerebral palsy is mainly manifested as central motor disorders and postural abnormalities, and can be accompanied by a variety of intellectual, verbal, visual and other obstacles, of which mobility and language expression disorders are the biggest obstacles for children with cerebral palsy to enter the school. We have raised resources from all sides to launch the "Same Table Plan", hoping that the whole society can pay attention to the schooling of children with cerebral palsy, create an inclusive social environment, and let more children with cerebral palsy hold hands with ordinary children and become partners.
I also thought about giving up on my children
Qi Qi, 8 years old this year, is a child with cerebral palsy. "For more than 8 years, I haven't slept a good night's sleep, but I won't give up, I want to live with him." Ms. Zhang told reporters that after Qi Qi was half a year old, she found that the child seemed to be particularly slow in development, and was particularly active, in order to treat the child, she began an 8-year-long run between Dafang and Guiyang.
When she was 1 and a half years old, Qiqi was diagnosed with cerebral palsy by Guizhou Provincial People's Hospital, and under the introduction of the doctor, Ms. Zhang knew what cerebral palsy was, and after Qiqi could not walk, eat, and talk normally, and could not take care of herself. "At that time, I felt that the sky had fallen, what could I do in the future?" Ms. Zhang said.
The year before, Ms. Zhang found the Fountain of Love with the help of well-wishers, because there were too many children in need of help, Qi Qi queued up for a year, and finally entered the Fountain of Love in September last year.
In order to treat Qi Qi's illness, her husband worked in other places, and Ms. Zhang carried her infant young son from Dafang to Guiyang and rented a house in Touqiao.
Now, Ms. Zhang gets up at 6 o'clock every morning to cook, because Qiqi eats very slowly and difficultly, after feeding, she takes him to the hospital to do acupuncture, and then sends him to the Fountain of Love for training and counseling.
After entering the Fountain of Love for more than a year, Qi Qi's cerebral palsy has improved, and he can barely walk with the help of someone, and the coordination of his body's movements has improved a lot. Ms. Zhang said, "As a mother, I am not afraid of how hard it is, I only hope that Qi Qi can return to basic self-care in life, so that I can rest assured!"
Gave them hope in life
In the name of love, since 2002, Love Fountain has been silently helping these special children and families, without charging any fees, doing physical training and psychological counseling for them.
In the past 16 years, The Fountain of Love has intervened and helped more than 500 special children with cerebral palsy, autism, developmental delay and other special children, and the children have made different degrees of progress, some of them have gone to school, some have already worked. Perhaps compared with the average person, they have not yet achieved the so-called complete "normal", but a little bit of seemingly small changes has given them hope in life.
One of the first girls they helped, who was severely retarded, was in her 30s and is now hired in sheltered employment doing cleaning work at the Fountain of Love.
"In fact, children with cerebral palsy need special education, their action and expression skills are not good, but their intelligence is basically normal, many are still very smart, and they need special training methods." Zhao Bo, a rehabilitation teacher at Aizhiquan, told reporters that in recent years, many children with good recovery have gone to ordinary schools, and one of them has also been admitted to Guiyang No. 1 Middle School, with excellent results and 7 points for IELTS.
Ms. Li Xian, the person in charge of The Fountain of Love, said that we have listened to the voices of many special families, many of whom are full of confusion and helplessness, and they are eager to be cared for and accepted. When a person faces difficulties, we can ask our relatives and friends for help, but strangers can also give love, hoping that through our efforts, these special children can get more love.
