In 1971, the People's Republic of China regained its legitimate seat in the United Nations. Over the past 50 years, Chinese professionals have actively participated in the global governance of the United Nations. At present, among the 15 specialized agencies of the United Nations, there are 4 leaders led by Chinese; and as more and more "Chinese faces" appear in the posts of the United Nations and its specialized agencies, Chinese professionals are contributing more "Chinese wisdom" and "Chinese strength" to the cause of the United Nations.

The World Meteorological Organization, formerly known as the International Meteorological Organization, is one of the oldest international organizations in the United Nations system. Zhang Wenjian, assistant secretary general of the World Meteorological Organization, said in an interview with the reporter of the General Station that China is the initiator of the WMO, and since the reform and opening up, China has actively participated in the work of the WMO, and has been more and more recognized in terms of strength and breadth. This year, the 15th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity and the 26th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change were held in Kunming, China, and Glasgow, England, respectively, and the World Meteorological Organization has actively participated in them, and China has played an important role in many issues such as climate change and biodiversity.

Zhang Wenjian, Assistant Secretary-General of the World Meteorological Organization: The two major framework conventions on biodiversity and climate change are big things for the United Nations, so the World Meteorological Organization is also actively involved and makes our contribution. I feel that China's active hosting of such conferences and actively participating in the negotiations on the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change reflect China's high attention as a responsible major country, its high attention to the major affairs of the United Nations, and its active participation in making our contribution.

In 1972, China was elected a member of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization. For more than 40 years, China and UNIDO had maintained good cooperative relations and provided strong support. In 2013, Li Yong, then Vice Minister of Finance of China, was elected unmistakable director-general of UNIDO, and was re-elected in 2017.

In Li Yong's view, from 1972 to today, in the past 50 years, China has developed rapidly, from the beginning of the urgent need for external support, to now help other developing countries in the industrialization process, promote the global sustainable industrial development, China has assumed more and more responsibilities in fulfilling the obligations of member states.

Li Yong, Director-General of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization: China's economic development has been recognized by the whole world, and then we actually face more challenges, how can China be at the forefront of the world, this is the Chinese dream of our Chinese nation. Through UNIDO's platform, some of our Chinese ideas (in the world) can be sublimated to a higher level.

Recently, Li Xiaohong, section chief of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime and a Chinese international employee, was also interviewed by reporters from the main station. Since assuming her duties in 2015, Li Xiaohong has represented China in a number of important unrelated work in the fields of crime fighting and transnational cooperation, and she looks forward to more Chinese professionals entering the UN and sharing more "Chinese experience" for the international community.

Jiang Fuming is the first Chinese international staff member to serve as a senior safety officer in the field of operational safety at the IAEA, and is also the first Chinese international operational safety assessment team leader and head of the operational safety department of the agency. In his view, with the rapid development of China's nuclear power field in recent years and the continuous improvement of its international status, the "voice of China" is becoming a positive force that is difficult to ignore in the United Nations and the international arena.

Jiang Fuming, head of the IAEA's operational safety department, senior safety officer, and head of the International Operational Safety Assessment Team: Our feeling here is that we can have more Chinese voices. Now in the United Nations agencies you can hear that we have more experts involved in our activities, because China is now the largest nuclear power builder, we have a lot of experience to export to other countries, so one is our experience, the other is our talent, the third is that we are now on the stage of international institutions, we also have more Chinese staff contributing our wisdom and strength.
