At that time, my family lived in the southeast mountain nest behind the Yantai Naval School, there were only a few villages nearby, and I had to cross a dongshan mountain when I entered Yantai City, which was the most remote corner, but the "New Year" was still the most grand festival of the year.
In the first few days of the New Year, the busiest person was my mother. She was busy dotting the new clothes, shoes and hats we wore for the New Year, and the meat that the family ate for half a month, because of the custom there, from the first to the fifteenth day of the first month of the first month, pigs were not slaughtered and sold.
I saw my mother tie up her apron, roll up her sleeves, and fill the big jar with large chunks of fragrant rotten meat covered with "red bad", as well as marinated meat cooked with soy sauce, sugar and various spices, and steamed several drawers of brown sugar rice cakes... When the mother did these things, there were not only a few of us hungry children standing next to her, but also the chef and Yu Mama who were helping next to her.
Father, on the other hand, prepared New Year's entertainment for the children after school. Attending naval school was not only our cousin, but also our cousin. It is really "three thousand miles a table", what aunt cousin, uncle cousin, aunt cousin, at least seven or eight. My father bought back a set of blowing instruments from Yantai City, gongs, drums, flutes, erhu, yueqin... It's really hilarious when it's played.
It's just that we can't squeeze into their band! We could only put some firecrackers that our father bought us during the day and fireworks at night. The big one is placed on the ground one by one, and the fire tree honeysuckle is very bright!

When I was eleven years old, I returned to my hometown of Fuzhou, Fujian Province, where the New Year was much more lively. In our extended family, we ate in four rooms, and my grandfather ate with our room. From the twenty-third day of the waxing moon, everyone was busy sweeping the rooms, scrubbing the doors, windows and copper and tin utensils, and preparing rotten and pickled chicken, duck, fish, and meat.
Grandfather was only busy writing the Spring Festival, pasting them on polished doors or side doors. On the morning of New Year's Day, he also wrote a piece of red paper: "New Year's Day opening, new year auspicious ...".
In the New Year, each of us gets a lot of good things from our "grandmother's house." The first is stove sugar, stove cake, which is a box of sugar and snacks. The best thing is still lanterns, Fuzhou dialect, "lamp" and "Ding" homophonous, so the number of lights sent, always more than the number of children, is the meaning of Tim Ding.
At that time, my brothers were still young and would not rob me, and the extra one was always given to me. These lights: paper, yarn, glass... So on the wall of my house hung a "marquee lamp", on which the figure was "Three Ying Zhan Lü Bu", holding a goldfish lamp with two eyes moving, and pulling a "white rabbit lamp" with wheels at his feet in the other hand.
The "Wanxing Barrel Stone Shop" in front of my house usually sells all kinds of lamps in addition to selling various large and small barrels for dowry with red paint and gold edges. It is not a lantern that children hold to play with, but a large glass lamp, yarn lamp, filament lamp, horn lamp, etc. painted with delicate flower and bird figures on it, and the Lantern Night is lit up, which is really "flower market lights like day", tourists are weaving, laughing all over the street!
After the Lantern Festival, the annual glorious days are over. When the adults asked us to put together many lanterns that we had played with and burned them, they said, "From tomorrow onwards, let's collect our hearts and go to school." We listened silently, looking at the stars embers of the lanterns in the patio, with an indescribable sense of loneliness. When I went to bed, the night was really bad!
