Father-son affection from an alternative perspective

Father-son affection from an alternative perspective

With "The Shawshank Redemption", the prison movies that followed will basically no longer have some daydreams about "transcendence". In this way, the ambition is smaller, and the perspective is wider. As a result, we see more diverse prison films, although the main theme is inseparable from human nature after all: there is a "Green Miracle" that can magically black uncles, "Death Row Inmate" which is ten thousand times more cruel than the lonely island survival game reality show, "First-degree Murder", which points directly at the dark side of the American judicial system, and "Death Row Prisoner On the Road" where unrepentant murderers are indoctrinated by nuns... Compared with the extension of the predecessors, "Deep Hell Father and Son" takes a more strange path. And the title of the film is also very strange, causing people to be suspicious.

This is completely out of the psychology of the current audience. Nowadays, the more vulgar the title, the more it can cause suspicion of deviation. Or rather, it's more indicative of the audience's expectations. The regular action is tired of watching, and the sword is surprised to go sideways, as long as it is not too bloody. When a colleague heard "Father and Son in Deep Prison", his first reaction was "basic love"... In the male prison, "the danger of picking up soap" is indeed a common sense beyond the high wall, but people are really father and son... feeling......

Father and son who have been separated for many years actually met in prison? Sounds a bit interesting. The degree of "fun" is comparable to the short film "EXIT" by Shenzhen youth director Yang Long, who was forced by life to rob his son, and the owner of the car he robbed was also the biological father who abandoned himself and his mother for many years. Coincidences are gripping, but they're probably not a good thing after all. From the very beginning, it is doomed to its dark, cold, almost desperate tone. The boy Eric is jailed for crimes, and his violent behavior in prison leads to his transfer to an adult prison. The film focuses on a large number of realistic scenes, all of which are swear words and fists against each other. In the eyes of the hot-tempered Eric, in this world of the weak and the strong, only violent and strong can protect themselves. He even became a "hot guy" in prison with his outstanding fighting ability. He will also relentlessly refuse to lend a helping hand, or fight back violently without knowing it. For example, he hurt his good intentions to send a lighter to his cellmates. Such Anrick on the big screen is really not at all pleasing at all. Although we as viewers can guess that everything he is doing now is actually revenge on his parents who have not fulfilled their responsibilities.

The last time I saw my father before going to prison, Eric was only a 5-year-old. At that time, he was already a little sensible, and he heard his father insulting his mother. The next one left was enough for Eric to accumulate a full hatred for his father. What is even more tragic about this boy is that his mother, who is dependent on him, treats him badly, and he once said that "he has no mother". He even said that he went to jail because he wanted to meet his father. Even though father and son have only been together for a short period of five years, in Eric's heart, the "bad dad" is still the only thing he can aspire to rely on. Because he had already tried, his mother could not be trusted. He also wanted to try his father's love for him, even if it was violent. As a father, from the moment he met his son, he began to protect his son in his own way everywhere, even if he chose to kill the boss without the slightest hesitation, he must face another crime and be separated from his son again. At that time, the father had only one thought in his mind, to save his son's life and not to let him have an accident. Before that, the father had done a lot for his son, all of which proved that he had cared about Eric from beginning to end. For example, when the son was locked up, the father sneaked into his cell, while warning that "you will hang you again", while delivering food; when the son first entered the talking group, the father had been eavesdropping at the door, really couldn't help it, and also went in to "educate", before leaving, he let his trusted people stay there; in the father's cell, there was a painting hanging on it, which read "I love you daddy", and the handwriting should be drawn by a child. It turned out that this was painted by Eric to his father, and he always carried it with him... Of course, all this also made Eric feel the long-lost father's love, although his father was going to leave him again.

At the end of the film, the father says goodbye to his son face to face and utters the impressive line: "Proud to be your dad". Why did he say that? Maybe he saw a change in his son. And this change is precisely because of the love and encouragement of his father. For this result, the father made no matter how great the sacrifice. I have to say that this picture is a strong contrast with all the time before the film. For most of the film, Eric's demonic indoctrination is vividly reflected, and his relationship with his father is always in opposition until this last-minute emotional outburst. It is worth mentioning that the film uses a lot of intriguing details to pave the way for this seemingly sudden turn.

In addition, "Father and Son in Prison" has a commendable point of view - as one of the few films that presents the life of prisoners in such depth, its sketches of British prisons are as meticulous as documentaries, and the blunt violence will be disturbing.

The old-fashioned topic of father-son relationship has been moved to a confined space again, and it has become special. Director David Markkenz continues to use his ability to bring warmth out of violence. Although the pattern is small and the clues are trivial, so what?

By the way, there is indeed still a "basic feeling" in "Deep Prison Father-Son Love". I just don't understand, why should my father be involved?
