France's new regulations take effect iPhones will no longer come with headphones for free from next week

Beijing time on the evening of January 21 news, it is reported that due to the adjustment of French law, Apple will no longer need to provide EarPods headphones for the iPhone 13.

From 2020, Apple will stop providing headphones and chargers for free for new iPhone phones. Apple said at the time that the move was to reduce e-waste, help reduce carbon emissions and avoid mining and using rare earth elements. What's more, many users have turned to wireless headphones such as AirPods.

But French authorities have not allowed Apple to do so. According to the relevant French law, all smartphones must include a hands-free headset/accessory to protect children under 14 years old from potential electromagnetic radiation.

To this end, like the previous iPhone 12 models, all the iPhone 13 models apple sells in France are free of charge with EarPods headphones with Lightning interface.

But now, with the revision of France's new regulations, the rules governing the sale of electronics have also changed. The adjusted regulations state: "In France, smartphone manufacturers no longer need to offer headphones/hands-free kits. The regulation, which has come into force at the end of 2021, aims to reduce France's overall "environmental footprint".

According to Fnac, a large French electronics distributor, Xiaomi mobile phones have stopped offering free headphones from January 17, 2022. Fnac also said that from the week of January 24, 2022 (next Monday), Apple will no longer offer free EarPods headphones.

Apple has not commented on this, but the official dealer has been notified, and the dealer is also notifying the user. On Apple's official store, EarPods are priced at 149 yuan.
