The Israeli government sent firefighting planes to fight fires with firefighters on the ground, but the fire was difficult to control, and rescuers began evacuating patients and staff at a local medical center by helicopter. Local residents were told to leave the property as soon as possible and, if unable to leave, close the doors and windows and wait for next rescue notifications.
An Israeli police spokesman told local media that at least 10,000 people had been evacuated from their homes. IDF soldiers were called in to help extinguish the fire.
