Jonas doesn't seem to be a performer on that field. Previously in Toronto, when he was in a lineup with Kyle and DeMar, he wasn't that central figure either; in Memphis, when his ja's light was down, it seemed like the same; in New Orleans, under Zion, things seemed to happen that way, and he was surrounded by stars who shone brighter than him, and his glow was difficult to spot. But while Valanciunas was always under the radar and was not detected by the audience, it was not his own fault. He is one of the most solid and reliable frontcourt players in the league and has been part of the winning team, making it to the playoffs in six of his nine seasons.
What's even more impressive is that he seems to get better with age. Last season, he was absolutely outstanding with the Grizzlies, creating a career streak when he helped the Grizzlies enter the playoffs for the first time since 2017. His 17.1 points and 12.5 rebounds per game are career-highs, and he shot 59.2 percent from the field.
At first glance, Valanciunas' dominance under the basket is still quite obvious, and many people often compare this player to this player, and Valanciunas is also the same, he is often compared to Adams, but at this stage of their careers, they are really a lot alike, especially on the offensive end. Last season, he shot 66 percent from within the 5-foot range, though he finished tenth in the league in terms of shots per game in the region. And his offensive rebounds — 4.1 per game last season, second in the league — will help create second chances. In addition, he is a better fit than Adams because of his ability to stay away from the basket when necessary. He's not Carl Anthony Downs or any type of player, but the team won't be able to ignore him outside of the paint, which should create more space for Williamson and Ingram.
