On 30 July, german artist and figurative master Jonas Bogett's latest solo exhibition "Blooms and Lies" opened at the Long Museum (West Bund). This is his solo debut at the Asia Regional Art Gallery.

Jonas Bogett's work is extremely personal and recognizable. Walking into the exhibition hall, the visual impact of Bogart's works is intuitive. Approaching the work, his paintings are full of details worth seeking. His paintings show a large number of human figures dressed in eccentric costumes, whitewashed faces, and obscure objects. The exhibition presents 26 paintings by Bogett and 3 sculptures based on women.

As a master of figurative painting, each of Jonas Bogett's works is intricate. In addition, he examines contemporary life and depicts his own imagination of human existence. He said: "For me, it is not interesting to show what exists, it is interesting to show the 'meaning off-the-painting'." I try to understand what's behind the people around me, what's behind the surface. ”

The exhibition title "Blooms and Lies" is derived from the name of one of the works in this exhibition. The latter is translated from the German "blüht und lügt", a set of German phrases derived from some interesting German words that the artist was looking for. However, it has no substantive meaning, because the artist advocates the concept of "not much meaning" and hopes that the audience will explore his work through his own unlimited imagination. At the same time, Bogart makes good use of visual media as a tool to show the inner emotions and inner balance in human daily life. As he himself puts it: "It's interesting for me to be aware of what's behind the scenes, there are bad things and there are good things." ”

It is worth mentioning that in this exhibition, Bogart created three oversized works according to the exhibition space of the Long Museum. In order to make his works better displayed, he even made a model of the exhibition venue of the Long Museum (West Bund) in a 10:1 scale at his home in Germany to better identify the corresponding exhibition area of each work.
