Born in 1960 in Ubu City, Yamaguchi Prefecture, Japan, Hideaki Anno was not a wealthy family, but in the golden age of close-up photography, and as a young man, he was fascinated by these fictional but real films.
In his childhood and adolescence, he browsed a large number of animations, comics, and close-up films, and began to make his own animations and films in high school.
Perhaps his passion for anime and close-ups was far stronger than his studies, but his high school and university studies were frustrated one after another, and he continued to work to earn money under the support of the popular "Gundam 0079" at the time, and in 1980, with years of accumulated creative experience, he was admitted to Osaka University of the Arts.
After entering school, Leper and a group of like-minded companions formed the film team "DAICON FLIM" (which was also the predecessor of the animation company GAINAX) and produced the opening animated short of the 20th Japan Science Fiction Convention in 1981.
This animation that combines sci-fi, close-up, and girly elements shocked the audience.
Subsequently, the team co-filmed the feature film "Returning Ultraman: Monster Attack Team Flying Arrow Attack Order No. 1", in which the leper himself played the transformed Jack.
Unlike the alien figure wearing a leather jacket under the Round Valley lens, the leper just wore a coat printed with a Jack pattern and went straight to the battlefield, and with the experience of animation creation, the team produced a high-quality "Ultraman" fancage.

In addition, the special film "Giant God Soldier Appears in Tokyo" directed by the leper was released, in which all the explosion scenes were filmed in a close-up method (physical explosion).
In the following 2013, Miso and Higuchi took over Toho's New Godzilla.
Historically, as Japan's first monster close-up work, Godzilla's ideas and shooting methods conveyed were not only studied and applied by many European and American film masters, but also had a profound impact on subsequent close-ups.
In the face of such a series of special-time works of extraordinary significance, the two naturally did not dare to slack off, and with their full understanding and love for close-ups, "New Godzilla" sold well at the box office.
Before taking over "New Godzilla", The Leper had suffered from depression due to the creative setbacks of "EVA Q" (which was one of the reasons for the long delay of "The End"), but fortunately, during the filming of "New Godzilla", the symptoms of the Leper were alleviated, and the success of the film also doubled his confidence.
