"Tang Dynasty Official Hook and Exploration" series (01 articles) Wang Wei's Shangshu Right Cheng and Zhang Jiuling's Shangshu Right Cheng Are the same thing?

In the Tang Dynasty, the three departments of officials, households, and rites belonged to the left division of Shangshu; the three departments of soldiers, lines, and works belonged to the right division of Shangshu. Shang Shu Left and Right Cheng are in charge of Shang Shu Left and Right Division, Shang Shu Left Cheng (正四品上), Shangshu Right 丞 (正四品下). According to the "Zhenguan Zhengjia" record, "Shang Shu Wanji, in fact, is the political foundation, seeking this choice, and it is difficult to entrust him with sincerity." It is compared to Wenchang with the eight seats, and the second cheng (referring to the left and right cheng) parties are in the jurisdiction of ", which shows the importance of "Shang Shu left and right cheng". The Tang Dynasty poet Wang Wei, whom we are familiar with, was the official Shangshu Right Cheng .

"Shangshu Left and Right Cheng Xiang" is not "Shang Shu Left and Right Cheng"; it is another name for Shang Shu Left and Right Servant (from Erpin Ministry). During the reign of Emperor Gaozu of Tang, because Li Shimin was the governor of Shangshu Province, Shangshu Ling [Zheng Erpin], the right servant of the deputy governor of Shangshu, Pei Ning, had to add "Zhi Zheng Shi" (zhi is presided over, and political affairs is to be discussed in the government affairs hall) in order to exercise the deliberative power of the prime minister. From Li Shimin's ascension to the throne (626) to the second year of Emperor Gaozong of Tang (662), the post of Shangshuling was unfilled, and the post of Shangshuling in the second year of Longshuo was abolished. During the reign of Emperor Taizong of Tang, the left and right servants of Shangshu became the actual governors of Shangshu Province, and were also regarded as prime ministers without adding any "suffixes". At the beginning of Emperor Gaozong's succession, adhering to Emperor Taizong's legacy, he appointed Li Ji as the left servant of Shangshu, and soon Li Ji wrote to request to be relieved of his post as a servant.

Li Ji became an experimental object for Tang Taizong to play "imperial power technique" with Tang Gaozong's father and son, and his servant without any suffix could be regarded as a prime minister, and became a special honor for Emperor Gaozong's "existence and only". Li Ji naturally thanked Emperor Gaozong of Tang, and since he had stepped down from his post as a servant, Yonghui's second year (651) Yu Zhining and Zhang Xingcheng served as Shangshu's left and right servants, even if at this time the grade of Shangshu's left and right servants was higher than that of the chancellor Shizhong and Zhongshu Ling [Zheng Sanpin], and it was necessary to add "Tongzhongshu Menxia Sanpin" as the iconic suffix of the chancellor in order to exercise the chancellor's deliberative power.

[Note: Zhongshu Ling and Shizhong are Zhengsanpin officials, and other official positions have done work equivalent to Zhongshu Ling and Shizhong, called "Tongzhongshu Menxia Sanpin". In the second year of the Gregorian calendar (767), it was changed to Erpin. In the first year of the Shenlong Dynasty (705), Dou Lu Qinwang was appointed as the right servant of Shangshu, and he had to add "The Important Affairs of the Military State, and the Zhongshu Menxia could be jointly pingzhang" ("Referred to as "Pingzhang Junguo Important Matters", in order to exercise the deliberative power of the prime minister. In the fourth year of the Gregorian calendar (769), Pei Mian paid homage to Shangshu's right servant [Tong zhongshu menxia Pingzhangshi]. We can see that since the Gaozong Dynasty, the status of Shangshu Province has gradually declined, and the two provinces under Zhongshu Men have the momentum of catching up with Shangshu Province.

In November, Pei Yaoqing was made the left chancellor of Shangshu, and Zhongshu made Zhang Jiuling the right chancellor of Shangshu and deposed the governor of government affairs.

- Old Book of Tang and The Chronicle of Emperor Xuanzong

The dismissal of "governors" is the dismissal of the office of prime minister, such as the second year (665) of Emperor Gaozong of Tang's reign (665) of the Western Taiwan Attendant Sun Chuyue and Le Yanwei and the suspension of "governors". The dismissal of "Governor of The Government" is equivalent to Zhang Jiuling's Shangshu Right Chancellor is not the Prime Minister, but only receives an empty title of Shangshu Right Chancellor (from Erpin Minister). This kind of dismissal method is really clever, Zhongshu Ling (Zhongshu Provincial Governor) and Shi Zhong (Menxia Provincial Governor) as the "Zhengpai Prime Minister" without any suffix, but only the Zhengsanpin Minister. Shangshu Right Minister (尚書右仆射) is a erpin cleric official, and on the surface the rank of the priest is still "promoted", but in fact, it is bright and dark, playing with the "overhead" of power.

Tang Xuanzong is an expert in playing with the balance of power, and it is not too much to say that it is pure fire and pure fire to reach the peak. After Yao Chong's and Song Jing's resignation that year, they were awarded the highest rank of official from Yipin Wenshan, Kaifu Yi Tongsan Division. Similar to Zhang Jiuling and Pei Yaoqing's method of recall, there was already a precedent as early as the seventeenth year of the new century (729). Yuan Qianyao (the governor of Menxia Province) was deposed as Shangshu Zuo Cheng Xiang (尚書左丞相) and deposed as a "governor of the government". Since the origin of Qianyao, the people who "only " served as Shangshu left and right ministers (Shangshu left and right servants) and dismissed "governors and political affairs" were often dismissed by [prime ministers], such as Zhang Jiuling and Pei Yaoqing. After that, Shangshu's fate as an "empty shell prime minister" did not change until the fall of the Tang Dynasty.
