The Pioneers of a Hundred Years Ago (Sun Yunpeng)

Sun Yunpeng, no. Qingxiao, was born on April 4, 1882 in Shenzhuangzi, Tianjin, to a shoemaker family, and entered a private school at the age of 8. As a teenager, his calligraphy was already well known. As imperialism dumped foreign goods in Tianjin, in 1901, Sun Yunpeng's shoe sole workshop was squeezed down. In order to make ends meet, Sun Yunpeng went to Changxin Machine Factory as an apprentice, and later to Tianjin Iron Factory as a craftsman.

In 1905, France built the Zhengtai Railway Switchboard Factory in Shijiazhuang, and Sun Yunpeng was recruited to work as a planer in the factory, and his parents, wives, children, and siblings moved to Shijiazhuang. In February 1919, Deng Zhongxia and others organized civilian education lecture groups to spread Marxism-Leninism among workers and opened labor remedial schools, and he became the first Zhengtai railway worker to come into contact with Marxist ideas. In 1920, Zhang Guotao and Luo Zhanglong came to Shijiazhuang and established contact with Sun Yunpeng. In the winter of 1921, introduced by Luo Zhanglong, Sun Yunpeng joined the Communist Party of China and the Marxist Theory Research Society, becoming the first Member of the Chinese Communist Party in Shijiazhuang.

In 1922, Sun Yunpeng went to Guangzhou to participate in the first national labor conference. On October 8 of the same year, the inaugural meeting of the institute (trade union) was held at the Shijiazhuang Tongle Theater, and a huge celebration parade was held. After that, they proposed to the Zhengtai Railway Bureau nine conditions for improving the lives of workers. In December 1922, the Shijiazhuang Zhengtai Railway Industry Research Association Was renamed the Zhengtai Railway Industry Federation, and Sun Yunpeng was elected vice chairman of the Federation of Trade Unions, and was also one of the leading members of the Northern Branch of the Secretariat of the Labor Union. On 14 December, in order to improve the lives of the workers, they issued the Declaration of all workers of the Zhengtai Railway on nine conditions. After a struggle, on 26 December, the French capitalists agreed to the 14 conditions put forward by the workers. The strike struggle was won.

In February 1923, Sun Yunpeng participated in the "February 7" general strike held by zhengtai railway workers. On March 22 of the same year, the Secretariat of the Labor Union held a memorial meeting for Shi Yang and Lin Xiangqian in Beijing, and after the meeting, he wrote to him and told him about the meeting. On April 9, the Secretariat published the news of "Arrest of the Leader of the Zhengtai Trade Union" through the "Current Affairs News" to appeal for him, and under the pressure of public opinion, the Zhengtai Railway Bureau had to release him. The Zhengtai Railway Workers' Movement was highly praised by the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China. By 1923, the number of Communists among the workers in Shijiazhuang had grown to 9, and the first party group in Shijiazhuang was established, with Sun Yunpeng as the leader of the party group.

On February 7, 1924, the First National Railway Workers' Congress was held in Beijing, the All-China Railway Federation of Trade Unions was officially established, and Sun Yunpeng was elected chairman of the All-China Railway Federation of Trade Unions. On July 9, sun Yunpeng was arrested and escorted to Tianjin Prison due to betrayal by traitors, and later released on bail by Li Xijiu, head of the Tianjin Prefectural Committee of the Communist Party of China. Sun Yunpeng returned to Shijiazhuang after his release from prison and began to rectify the trade union.

In February 1925, the Second National Railway Workers' Congress was held in Zhengzhou, and Sun Yunpeng participated in this congress and was elected as an executive member of the Federation of Trade Unions. In mid-March, the situation deteriorated after the Fengzhi warlords occupied Shijiazhuang, and he continued to struggle in Guangzhou, Tianjin, Zhengzhou and other places. In 1931, he lost contact with the party organization and made a living in Tianjin repairing clocks and watches. In 1932, the Zhengtai Railway was nationalized, and he returned to Shijiazhuang to resume work. Mao Duo (Mao Shideng) was dispatched by the Shanxi Special Committee of the CPC to carry out party work on the Zhengtai Railway in Shijiazhuang. Sun Yunpeng took over the party's connections. At the end of 1933, Sun Yunpeng again lost contact with the party organization. When the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression broke out and Shijiazhuang fell, he returned to Tianjin.

In November 1947, after the liberation of Shijiazhuang, Mao Duo was appointed secretary of the Shijiazhuang Municipal Party Committee of the Communist Party of China, and he was transferred to work in the Shijiazhuang Railway Branch Trade Union. In July 1957, he retired to Tianjin to recuperate. On December 3, 1965, he died in Tianjin at the age of 83.
