If the compensation draft pick is revealed, the Rockets intend to take over Westbrook

On January 22, Beijing time, according to reporter Mark Stern, if there is compensation for the draft pick, the Rockets are interested in talking to the Lakers about the sale of John Wall to Russell Westbrook.

In the 2019 offseason, the Rockets traded Westbrook, but just one season later, Westbrook was traded to the Wizards. Wall is currently in good health, but he has reached an agreement with the Rockets not to play for the team or buy out the contract. Westbrook is currently struggling with the Lakers, and with a salary of $47 million next season, it's hard for him to be traded by the Lakers. If they take over Westbrook, the Rockets will demand compensation from the draft pick. The Lakers can currently offer their 2027 first-round picks or multiple second-round picks, but there are only 20 days left until the Deal Deadline of Feb. 11, and it will not be easy for the two sides to negotiate the deal.

So far this season, Westbrook has played in 45 games for the Lakers, averaging 18.5 points, 8 rebounds and 7.8 assists per game, shooting 30.4% from three-point range. The Lakers are currently 22-23, ranking eighth in the West. It is worth noting that Wall and Westbrook's contract amounts are basically similar. Wall has a $47.36 million player option next season, and he has a 15 percent trade margin on his contract.
