When a teenager reads, he lacks food and clothes, often uses sand tables and branches to practice calligraphy, and later grows up in calligraphy. After graduating from primary school, he taught in Folding Jiaping, Yangjiayuanzi and other places, and he was tireless and sound. At the beginning of 1923, the Suide Provincial Fourth Normal School was opened, and went to the examination, and the essay "The People Are Noble" was written and the book show was first with 95 points. On the eve of the winter vacation of that year, the students elected Bai Mingshan and other students as student representatives, and wrote a letter asking the Provincial Department of Education to remove the principal Gao Zhuxuan, and Li Zizhou was appointed as the principal. He studied assiduously, with poor tuition, hunger and fatigue, and fainted several times. Through the planning of Li Zizhou and Wang Maoting, they arranged for them to engrave lecture notes for the school and implement half-work and half-reading. Under the cultivation of Li Zizhou and Wang Maoting, he read revolutionary works and went to nearby villages and schools to propagate Marxism-Leninism, and was praised as a student leader. In October 1924, he joined the Gongjin Society and assisted Li Zizhou and others in founding the Northern Shaanxi Youth Society and the mimeographed journal "Northern Shaanxi Youth". In the winter, introduced by Li Zizhou and Wang Maoting, he joined the Chinese Socialist Youth League and became a member of the Communist Party the following year. In the summer of 1925, he went to Shanghai University for further study. Under the influence of Qu Qiubai, Yun Daiying, and other party members and teachers, the theoretical level improved rapidly. Later, he was transferred to the Distribution Department of the CPC Central Committee, in charge of printing and distributing the books "A Brief Theory of Marxism" and "The Construction of the Proletarian Party".

In April 1928, the first congress of the Communist Party of Shaanxi was held in Suide Miaojiaping (now part of Zizhou County), and Bai Mingshan was elected as an alternate member of the Northern Shaanxi Special Committee and appointed secretary of the Suide County Party Committee in autumn and winter. As a winter school instructor, he secretly carried out party work in the earthen kiln on the slope of Li Yinjiagou Mountain in Zhoujia formula town, and repeatedly went deep into the salt flats and coal kilns around the Three Emperors' Valley, Jiangjiaya, and Horseshoe Ditch, visited the poor and the poor, and promoted the labor movement. At the beginning of 1929, the Northern Shaanxi Special Committee was moved from Zhejiaping to Laojundian, and Bai Mingshan served as a member of the Propaganda Committee and secretary of the Mizhi County Party Committee.

In April and May, the enlarged meeting of the special committee was held in Hongshi Gorge, Yulin, and more than 10 people, including Liu Zhidan, Bai Mingshan, Huo Shijie, Liu Lantao, and Yang Guodong, were elected to preside over the meeting. The meeting criticized and corrected the right-leaning mistake of Yang Guodong, acting secretary of the special committee, and recommended that the provincial party committee revoke his post and elect Liu Zhidan as secretary of the special military committee. This was an important meeting in the history of the party in northern Shaanxi, and Bai Mingshan played his due role. After the meeting, he was appointed secretary of the Fugu County Party Committee.

In March 1930, he was arrested in Qingjian County for informing traitors and escorted to Yulin No. 3 Prison. He was awe-inspiring, admitting that he was a member of the Communist Party and believed in communism, but his organization did not say a word. The enemy was first lured by money and status, but was sternly rejected, and then sent traitors to persuade him to surrender, and was angrily scolded and reprimanded. He firmly stated: "The head can be broken, the blood can be shed, and the integrity of the communists must not be lost!" "When the enemy's plot went bankrupt, he was tortured. Leather whips, bar presses, sitting on tiger stools, pouring spicy water, finger piercing bamboo sticks... Bai Mingshan's skin opened its flesh and regarded death as a homecoming. On January 21, 1932, he was heroically inaugurated under the gallows. Before he died, he proudly said: "Killing me Bai Mingshan is nothing, the Communists can't finish killing!" ”

At the Seventh National Congress of the Communist Party of China in 1945, it was included in the "List of Martyrs of the Communist Party of China".
