The footsteps of the Beijing Winter Olympics are getting closer and closer, and the award elements of the Beijing Winter Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games have also been released. In the early morning of January 1, accompanied by the ringing of the New Year's bells, the award bouquet of the Beijing Winter Olympics "Flower of Glory" was officially unveiled. Different from the past, this Beijing Winter Olympics adheres to the concept of "green, sharing, openness and integrity", and the bouquet of awards is no longer using flowers, but replaced by hand-woven velvet flowers, truly never withering.

There are 6 types of flowers in the Bouquet of the Beijing Winter Olympics, including roses, moon seasons, bell orchids, hydrangeas, laurel and olives, symbolizing friendship, tenacity, happiness, unity, victory and peace. A blue cosmos was added to the bouquet of the Winter Paralympic Awards, symbolizing strength. It is understood that the weaving work of the bouquet of the award is jointly participated by the knotting societies in Beijing, Shanghai, Tianjin, Jiangsu, Zhejiang and other seven places. The laurel in the bouquet of the award is the city flower of Hangzhou, and its weaving work is completed by the weaving team of "Weaving Friends" in Ziyang Street, Shangcheng District, Hangzhou.
"Before the National Day last year, some units contacted us to ask if they would like to participate in the production of the award bouquet of the Beijing Winter Olympics." Yu Hui, the initiator of the weaving team of the "Weaving Friends", recalled the scene when she first received the task, she was still very excited, "I received the news and sent a notice in the group, everyone heard that it was to be used in the Winter Olympics flowers, they were very excited, and immediately more than 20 people signed up to participate." According to Yu Hui, these aunts in Ziyang Street in Shangcheng District usually love hand-knitting, and in 2016, under the careful cultivation of the People-Friendly Social Work Service Center, the "Weaving Friends" weaving team was officially established. "Every Tuesday everyone takes a day off to get together and do some manual work according to different themes. There will also be some public welfare activities, such as knitting some clothes for poor children. Yu Hui said.

It takes about 4 hours to weave a complete osmanthus flower, and the huge workload condenses the efforts and blessings of the aunts. "The flowers are first shaped with copper wire, then the leaves are woven, and finally the flowers and leaves are wrapped around the wire." Shi Fengxian, a member of the knitting team, said that because the final fixing link needed to be fixed with a circle of wool, it was done too much, and the fingers were grinded out of a thick cocoon.
In December 2021, when there was a dot-like epidemic in many places in Zhejiang, and the weaving team could not get together to work, Shi Fengxian rode a battery car door to door to deliver weaving materials, take finished flowers and branches, and package the finished products and send them out.

"We often communicate with nearby residents to help them nurture interest groups." The Weaving Friends' Knitting Team was established in 2016 as an interest group of more than ten people, and we gathered scattered individuals with knitting interests through teachers like Aunt Yu Hui, who have knitting skills. The staff of the People-Friendly Social Work Service Center said, "Last year, the weaving team received the task of weaving bouquets for the Beijing Winter Olympics, and together with the Ziyang Street Community Social Organization Service Center in Shangcheng District and the Shangyangshi Street Community Social Studio in the street, we organized this 'Winter Olympic Love Hangzhou - Weaving Friends' Heng'ai Mother Love Group, and provided a venue for their weaving work." ”

It is understood that from the middle of October 2021 to officially start weaving production, as of now, more than 20 people in the "Weaving Friends" weaving team has made about 2500 velvet osmanthus in 3 months, which has been sent to Beijing in batches. "Osmanthus is the city flower of our Hangzhou, and the meaning is also very good. Look forward to seeing on TV the images of athletes holding bouquets of flowers, which have the heart of each of us members on it. Yu Hui said.
