Recently, the Xunyang court concluded a case of illegal possession of firearms, and sentenced defendant Mao to five months of control for the crime of illegal possession of firearms in the first instance.
Case Review
Defendant Mao found an earthen gun in an abandoned house pile when he was herding sheep and picked it up and stored it at home, after which defendant Mao wanted to scare wild boars with the earthen guns stored in his home, and was reported by the public that he had a gun hidden in his home. The public security organs then conducted a search of the defendant's home and found that his home contained earthen guns, abandoned butt stocks, fuses, steel balls, artillery and other items. After appraisal, the gun owned by defendant Mao was a homemade gunpowder gun that fired projectiles powered by gunpowder was an unconventional firearm. His illegal possession of firearms violates the provisions of Article 128 of the Criminal Law of the People's Republic of China, brings serious hidden dangers to public order, is harmful to society, and shall be punished criminally in accordance with law.
