This article was first published on the tiger sniff young content public account "That NG" (ID: huxiu4youth). Here, we present the face, stories and attitudes of today's young people.
26 years ago, when Dr. Ivan Goldberg, an American psychiatrist, used the term "Internet addiction" on his blog to ridicule the Association of American Psychiatric Societies as "X addiction":
He certainly did not expect that this joke could become the theoretical basis for countless experts to treat "Internet addiction", and it was impossible to foresee that he could set off a wave of social wave of "sending babies to quit Internet addiction" in China on the other side of the ocean.
The January 15, 1997 Article in The New Yorker on page 28 talked about the word "Internet addiction" that began with Dr. Ivan Goldberg's anti-dogmatic joke
In the wave of that time, many "experts" became the Messiah in the news media, and hundreds of "Internet addiction treatment institutions" made up of high walls and barbed wire rose up. Together, they form a cold machine that crushes the stubble of children who do not meet parents' expectations and helps them tune out one "good child" after another that meets the mainstream standards.
Today, when we mention "quitting Internet addiction" again, everyone will always think of the horror picture of Yang Yongxin, the king of lightning, and electric shock therapy to teach Internet addicted teenagers, and feel that these things seem to only happen to the so-called "Internet addicted teenagers".
But the truth is that more children who make parents "unable to manage" have been sent to this place. These institutions may not have resorted to extreme electric shock therapy, but their brutal militarized management and imprisonment have caused indelible harm to the cadets.
In order to find out the harm of this kind of institution to people, this issue of Tiger Pull Radio invited XiaoLe, the first generation of students in the domestic Internet addiction school.
Three times in 2007-2008, he was forcibly sent by his family to an Internet addiction school for "behavior correction treatment, where he experienced violence and despair.
This story has nothing to do with the hunt, and we hope to leave a testimony about the times through his cruel encounter.
In order to make me obedient, my parents kidnapped me 3 times in 2 years

In December 2007, Xiao Le's friend was beaten at school. In order to get angry for people, he and a few buddies decided to find someone to fight back.
On the way to the fight, at about 4 p.m. that day, he received a phone call from his father, which basically asked: Where is he? What are you doing? What time do you go home? But it was such a normal-sounding phone call that revealed his whereabouts.
Not long after hanging up the phone, a Jinbei car stopped in front of him, and two big men came down, handcuffed him, and pushed him into the car.
This situation frightened him and his friends, until Xiao Le got into the car and saw his father's face, and realized that this was to repair him and send him to quit Internet addiction school.
Being taken by his father to press into the Golden Cup car is the fucking meaning, that will be just 15 years old, is a problem teenager in school: early love, fights, smoking and nighttime playing monster behavior, let Xiaole family hope in the Internet addiction school, trying to make him a "good child".
In order to get Xiao Le on the right track as soon as possible, but also afraid that he would run away halfway, three adults escorted him all the way south, rushed to a certain Internet addiction school in Wuhan overnight, and when they arrived, the sky was almost bright.
"When it was almost time, my father asked me to reform well, saying that it was better to come here than to go to prison." I also went for the first time, and I was a little curious, thinking that I had never come anyway, so I went to see it. "But when I saw the high walls and the barbed wire, I thought it was over." ”
The environment of this Internet addiction school in Wuhan is dilapidated, the conditions are harsh, the daily food is clear and watery, and it is difficult to see the meat. When Xiao Le went, there were more than 60 students in the whole school, and they came here for some reasons because of early love, some because they loved to play games, and some just because they were introverted. Although the reasons are different, the students who sleep on the wooden bed every day have one thing in common, that is, they do not meet the standards of a good child in the hearts of parents.
The harsh living environment is only part of the "gratitude education" of the Internet addiction school.
This set of gratitude education is divided into three axes, Xiao Le said: "The harsh environment is to make me remember the bittersweet, but usually the class is divided into one article and one martial arts, the text is to let you memorize the "Disciple Rules", write a letter of gratitude, the martial is corporal punishment, nothing to let you run in circles, practice squatting posture, the posture is not allowed to take the rope to smoke you, on the military training that set, but the violence is more, the most difficult to endure. ”
In this case, Xiao Le couldn't stand staying for half a month and decided to "escape from prison".
He began to carefully observe the work and rest rules of Teacher Wenwu, observe the location of the iron door key in the dormitory corridor, and find 4 people with good relations to discuss escaping together.
"But the day after the plan began, someone tipped off. That night we were still sleeping, he kicked in the door, called all the students up, stripped off their squatting positions, squatted for an hour, and said, 'I know someone is going to escape, hurry up and stand up, don't let everyone suffer.' I stood up. Xiao Le said.
After a punch and kick, he was asked by the instructor to take a cold shower in the bathroom with the window open, then stood in the cold wind for a night and the next day had a direct fever.
Standing on the cold cement floor and shaking, Xiao Le did not know that in January 2008, southern China was hit by a snow storm, and the water pipes in Wuhan were frozen.

After this encounter, Xiaole chose to accept the status quo. He mechanically wrote letters of thanks—praising his parents and the goodness of the school, repenting of his sins, and thinking that he would be able to come out as soon as possible and return to Beijing and return to normal life.
During the Spring Festival of 2008, his parents drove from Beijing to pick him up from school. He clearly remembered the happy mood when he saw his mother and stepfather walking to the teaching building on the third floor, and he also remembered the note that the students took the opportunity to stuff for him:
The notes were written on the phone and sentences, some asking him to go out and tell the person on the other end of the phone that everything was all right; others wrote, save them.
In order to welcome Xiao Le home, his parents brought a large family to Wuhan for the Spring Festival.
In the eyes of the family, after experiencing such a tutelage, Xiao Le will be able to cherish his current life and be a good child.
However, this encounter, instead of letting XiaoLe understand the beauty of life, made him have a greater fear of his family.
His mother's daily threat of "sending you back to practice if you don't obey" made him panic for the rest of his life. Under the fear, Xiao Le had the idea of living away from his family, trying to escape the punishment of not knowing when it would come, fleeing his family, fleeing Beijing, and living a down-to-earth life.
This kind of thinking breeds greater violence, and in order to realize the plan, he saved 3,000 yuan by cutting his mobile phone and cutting money, ran to Xi'an, and defected to his classmates. "At that time, I was very naïve, and I wanted to take it as a chip not to go home, so that they would stop sending me (referring to the Internet Addiction Center)." He said.
Soon, the family began to negotiate with him, asking Xiao Le to return to Beijing first and then have a good chat with him. But when he got into his stepfather's car and learned that his mother was still going to give him a plan to give him when he returned to Beijing, he decided to run away.
When the group was eating in the Huashan service area, Xiao Le found an opportunity, he pretended to be motion sickness and vomiting, pretended to be calm and went to the toilet, after escaping from his stepfather's sight, he ran out of the service area, through the traffic, to the opposite lane.
On the Tiger Pull Radio, Xiao Le recalled: "If they want to arrest me, they must turn around, and when the kung fu comes, I will run early." After I turned around, I walked along the road, to a village, found a carpool master, there was no money in my pocket, I took a cigarette and set porcelain with him, after gaining trust, I let him drive me to Xi'an, let my friends help me put the money on the mat first. ”
This escape experience allowed XiaoLe to be free for a short time, but at the same time, he also gave his mother high blood pressure and gave his stepfather qi to the hospital. Upon learning the news, Xiao Le, out of filial piety, decided to return to Beijing first and then negotiate.
After returning to Beijing this time, Xiao Le did not go home directly, but spent the night everywhere, changing every day, for fear of being caught by his parents and then arrested and returned to the Internet addiction agency.
After a stalemate with his family for half a month, his particularly trusted cousin called him and gently invited him to negotiate in Dongdan, and he listened to it and felt very warm and credible, so he agreed.
"When I saw the Golden Cup parked on the side of the road, I knew there was an ambush, turned around and ran, and as a result, they brought a bunch of young men who practiced track and field, and after catching me, they gave me a fat beating in the car, and they all beat me up and thirst. Then he also stomped on my head with his foot and escorted me to Xuanwu's father and brothers, and it was another beating. ”
After being beaten twice, Xiaole was sent to an Internet addiction school in Zhengzhou, Henan Province. It's bigger, with higher walls, more instructors, and a harsher environment.
Xiao Le calls the Henan Internet Addiction Rehabilitation Institution a hell trial.
This pain is first manifested in the most superficial physical torture.
When he first arrived at the school, the instructor ordered them to hold sandbags, every day from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m., and then run in circles, which is a microcosm of xiaole's cruel physical adjustment here.
At that time, you can sleep for two hours at noon, and at night you are sleepy with a sandbag, and your heart is also in pain, like a eagle, this kind of forced school is to torture you, so that you learn to obey, just like training dogs. 」 Xiao Le said.
Second, this pain is reflected in bullying.
As a student from out of town, Xiao Le was always excluded, and there was no one who could speak. And this bullying is not limited to the mental level, but also manifests itself in physical beatings.
Xiao Le recalled: "Once in class, they removed my stool, wanted to see me sitting on the butt mound, I reasoned with them, and as a result, when I went back to the dormitory, a group of them waited for me, took the horse to beat me on the back of the head, I fought with them, and the gang also pulled a side fight. ”
Such fights occur from time to time in the wild anti-Addiction institutions, but in this barbaric jungle, such things often do not go to justice.
After the group beating, the instructor deliberately approached Xiao Le and asked him not to tell his family about it; but Xiao Le still complained to his family about his experience on the communication phone and expressed his determination to obey - not because he wanted to obey, but because he was afraid.
But The complaint from Xiao Le's family was exchanged for corporal punishment from the instructor: he was called up for several consecutive nights to practice military posture as punishment for him to sue his parents, and to scare him into continuing to rectify him if he filed a complaint again.
People often think that Yang Yongxin's electric shock therapy is the biggest evil in the treatment of Internet addiction, but they do not know that in the ineffectiveness of seeking help, the discipline of the students who quit Internet addiction is even more terrible under the dark realm of life, and Xiao Le has become inhuman and ghostly under this realm, and has been hit hard. Today, when you talk to him about the details, Xiaole will deliberately avoid it, or hesitate for a moment and say" I forgot.
"Then it's just a day to live and count a day." In the process, I also shyly went to talk to the people who bullied me, or I had to go crazy. He said.
At first, his family spent 70,000 yuan to pay him tuition for 2 years, but in the process of training in Henan, Xiao Le's serious illness helped him escape from the magic cave in the third month of school.
In many "anti-Internet addiction" treatments, Xiaole also reached the age of 17, and his family also felt that it was not appropriate to send an Internet addiction school again. When talking about this matter again today, Xiao Le was very grateful for his illness, because it was this illness that helped him escape the doom of going to prison again.
Whether this experience has turned XiaoLe into the appearance of a "good child" in his family's heart is not easy to say, but the trauma caused to him is real: not only does he no longer trust his family, but he often has nightmares, dreaming that he has been beaten and taken away, while his family is ignoring him.
As he grew older, he tried to repair the family rift caused by this incident, but found that he could not get around a hurdle, that is, what is a good child? And who gives parents unlimited disposition of their children?
No one told him, and he couldn't think of an answer, so he could only vaguely think that whether it was quitting Internet addiction or early love, this was a false trick, and perhaps what that generation of traditional parents wanted was for their children to obey their authority unconditionally.
Although many questions are not answered, one thing is very certain, that is, after their family relations became a mess, the principal of the Henan Rehabilitation Network Center must have made a lot of money: the evidence is that his car was changed from Honda to Mercedes-Benz S350.
After recording this episode of Tiger Pull Radio, I sent him upstairs, and at the time of parting, he asked me if I was the source of family pain, if he did not exist, the family would not be so miserable?
I borrowed the passage of "Clockwork Orange" to give him the answer: goodness is born of the heart, goodness is chosen by man himself, and when man cannot choose, he is no longer a man.
People who are changing and want to change the world are all in the Tiger Sniff APP
