Chapter 019: Overnight in the Jungle

author:Desperate Desert Island

The night soaked in black, more and more intense. There is no one to illuminate the night sky in front of you, only the moment you look up, the nearest star, like a warm lamp in the distant sky, baking a cold sleeplessness. The wind, not as drunk as yesterday, but also stumbled in, horizontal and vertical also to send out the anger of the heart, the distant jungle, helpless branches and leaves falling, are crowded and pushing each other, rambling.

Climb up the slope and see a small flat area. In front of the slope, this flat land is considered to be a relatively high place, and the overall is relatively flat, which is more suitable for building a temporary shelter.

"Found it, Xinke." I walked down the slope towards Xinke.

"Food, found food?" You can see the green light in Xinke's eyes.

"The place to build a shelter, found it." I led XinKe to the small flat.

Not far away, a fallen tree was found with a moderate gap between the branches, equivalent to a natural bed structure.

"It's here tonight." I stood on the tree and pressed it, trying to bear the weight.

"Sleeping in a tree?" Xin Ke was confused.

"You take a break here, you'll know in a minute." Without further ado, there was no time to explain how to build it.

I found some small saplings, a little thicker than my thumb, and these little saplings weren't hard to fold up. Press down hard with your hands, the position close to the root will be very tight, if there is a knife without too much effort, everything will break down, helpless, insufficient conditions. Then press it further down, just listen to a crisp sound, and you're done. Place the broken saplings on the branches, and stack them horizontally and vertically, equivalent to a simple bed board. The entire branch is about 30 centimeters above the ground, which is just enough to avoid the dampness of the ground, even if there is rain at night, it will not be soaked by rainwater. The most important thing in the jungle is the moss plants everywhere, thick and soft to the touch like dog hair. Don't underestimate these mosses, outdoor survival camping is essential, and it has a good insulation effect on the ground. If the body is directly in contact with the ground to sleep, the temperature of the ground drops sharply at night, and it can quickly absorb the heat of the human body. The moss separates the human body from the earth and plays a role in keeping warm. Layer after layer of moss mat on the sapling, equivalent to laying a Simmons mattress on the bed board, is still soft. I folded some vines again, buried one in the soil, inserted one in the opposite position, wrapped the two ends together, and formed a semi-elliptical shape, like a yurt, and finally found some fern leaves. The leaves of tropical rainforest plants are large and pointed, built in the direction of the leaves, starting from the bottom up, and falling on the vines layer by layer, until there is no gap. If it rains, these leaves will play a big role, and the rain will slide down the leaves, which is a rainproof artifact. A few more vines were wrapped around them to compact the leaves to avoid being blown away by the wind. After some tossing and turning, the temporary camping base was basically completed. By this time, the setting sun was about to set and the night had begun to spread.

Looking at Xinke, leaning against the tree, he was already asleep. At this time, if there is another bonfire, it will be beautiful. Not only can it be warmed, but more importantly, the animals will avoid it when they see it from a distance. It's just that last night's torrential rain has not completely faded, and it is difficult to find dry wood to ignite the fire in the whole jungle, and tonight can only be wronged. Finally, there is a big thing, to put the wild boar in a safe place. I'm talking about safety here, not just to prevent other prey from stealing the wild boar, but more importantly, to the safety of both of us.

When staying overnight in the wild, never put food, especially meat, in your pocket or near your sleeping place. Animals have a very sensitive sense of smell, unlike us humans, who have rhinitis and you put your feet that haven't been washed for a week on the side of his nose, and he can't smell it. Animals, such as bears, can smell blood a few kilometers away, and are simply masters of smell. If you keep food next to you or in your backpack, nearby predators will soon be able to smell it and find you along the smell. If you are falling asleep, it will churn when you are not prepared. Kind animals, after finding food, leave without harming people, while some animals are not good, and they can't take you with a good meal.

I'm not sure if there are any predators around, but I can be sure there are no bears nearby. To determine whether there are bears, you can judge by examining the bear's feces. Where bears are infested, there will generally be a lot of bear poop, and the feces are often wrapped in things such as fruit cores that have not been completely digested, so that it can be judged that there will be some wild fruits nearby that can be eaten, but it can guide us to get some food. But you can't be careless, even if you can avoid large predators, it does not mean personal safety. Like the humble bullet ant, also interested in meat. It is called a bullet ant because after being bitten by it, it will be as painful as a bullet penetrating the body. When you are in full swing, they will not let go of this wonderful feast, and they will come for you in a big way, and they will make you miserable with a single bite. After some bites, the continuous pain makes people faint. The wild boar that has just been captured, if not dealt with in time, is estimated to attract a large number of bullet ants, which is almost enough for the two of us to drink a pot.

Just thinking about the bullet ant being bitten, I didn't feel like I was starting to feel uncomfortable. Looking at his arm, he found that when he was running desperately just now, he had already been scratched by the leaves, and one by one it was messed up. The tropical jungle is like this, only the unthinkable, nothing you can't see. In order to better protect themselves, some plants have their own leaves with sharp thorns, and even the flowers that bloom are also with thorns. It is estimated that bees have to go around collecting honey. It seems that just now I just had to run desperately, ignoring that they were also a fierce character.

Finally, I found a long branch, propped up the wild boar, and hung it high on the branches of the tree to avoid being taken away by the prey. After processing it, I woke up Xinke and asked her to feel my work first. Xin Ke rubbed her eyes, unable to believe the scene in front of her. I saw her curled up and sneak into my little tent.

"It won't collapse, will it?" Xin Ke lay down tremblingly.

"It's very strong." I can't wait to stick my head in.

"You come in too, it feels like it's going to rain." Xin Ke got up and pulled me in.

Not to mention, although I can't catch up with the bed at home, in this desolate mountain, lying on the camping bed I built for the first time, I really have a taste. The natural smell of the moss and the earth came to the surface, and the soft pine was mixed with the hardness of the saplings, and they did not dare to turn over, for fear of breaking and falling to the ground, and had to be rebuilt.
