In view of the recent continuous rise in fertilizer prices, the relevant person in charge of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs said at a press conference held by the State Council Information Office today (January 20) that five measures will be taken to ensure the supply of agricultural materials in winter and spring.
The relevant person in charge of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs said that since 2021, the price of agricultural materials has risen significantly, and the prices of urea, phosphate fertilizer, potassium fertilizer and compound fertilizer have risen to a new high in the past decade in October 2021. In this regard, the relevant departments have taken effective measures in a timely manner to effectively ensure the supply of chemical fertilizers, and to make up for the rise in the cost of growing grain through one-time subsidies to protect farmers' enthusiasm for growing grain.
The Director of the Department of Market and Information Technology of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs said that it will pay close attention to changes in the fertilizer market situation, actively promote the supply of chemical fertilizer production factors, and at the same time take five measures to effectively protect farmers' production enthusiasm.
The first is to organize expert associations to consult and judge the market demand for fertilizers during spring ploughing as soon as possible, and provide reference for enterprises to arrange production plans.
The second is to pay close attention to the operating rate, inventory, price and other conditions of major agricultural enterprises such as fertilizers, pesticides, seeds, etc., and timely study and analyze the reasons for fluctuations.
The third is to do a good job in ensuring the supply of raw materials, smooth logistics and transportation and terminal distribution, do a good job in fertilizer reserves, and stabilize market supply.
The fourth is to promote scientific fertilization. Promote scientific fertilization technologies such as soil testing and formula fertilization and integration of water and fertilizer, and improve the level of fertilization specialization, intensification and fertilizer utilization.
Fifth, protect peasants' income from growing grain. Implement a one-time subsidy for grain farmers, appropriately raise the minimum purchase price of rice and wheat, alleviate the impact of rising agricultural material costs, and give grain farmers a "reassurance pill."
