Beijing, 19 Jan (China News Service) -- Zhu Fenglian, spokeswoman for the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, said in response to an inquiry on 19 January that we urge the Slovenian Government to scrupulously abide by its serious commitments on Taiwan-related issues with practical actions and prudently and properly handle Taiwan-related issues.
A reporter asked: Recently, the Slovenian prime minister made erroneous remarks on Taiwan-related issues, calling the Taiwan region a "democratic country," adding taiwan to the World Health Organization, expressing support for Lithuania's Taiwan-related practices, and is promoting the "mutual establishment of representative offices" with Taiwan. Any comments on this? Zhu Fenglian made the above remarks when answering questions.
Zhu Fenglian said: The remarks made by relevant politicians in Slovenia disregard the facts and confuse the public opinion. He should be clear about what the one-China principle is, and should read the original text of the Joint Communiqué between the People's Republic of China and the Republic of Slovenia, that is, the Sri Lankan side reaffirms that it will continue to adhere to the principled stand of one China, recognize that there is only one China in the world, that Taiwan is an inalienable part of China, and that the Government of the People's Republic of China is the sole legitimate government representing the entire Chinese people. The position of the Republic of Slovenia on non-official dealings and establishment of any official relations with Taiwan remains unchanged.
Zhu Fenglian said: We urge the Slovenian Government to abide by its serious commitments on Taiwan-related issues with practical actions and prudently and properly handle Taiwan-related issues. The DPP authorities have used all kinds of tricks to co-opt and infiltrate politicians of relevant countries in a vain attempt to rely on external forces for "independence." (End)
