Case 18 is a new confirmed case reported by Shenzhen City on the 18th, and is a cleaning staff of an international crew stationed in the hotel.

After review by the National Center for Disease Control and Prevention, the Aomi Kerong variant (BA.2 evolutionary branch) infected by case 18 was compared with the currently available data such as domestic cases, imported case databases, and global new coronavirus databases, and no highly homologous viral genome sequences were found.

In addition, the first Case of Aomi Kerong in Shenzhen (Case 17 in the "0115" epidemic) was infected with the Aomi Kerong variant (BA.1 evolutionary branch), which is a different evolutionary branch and belongs to different sources from the Omil kerong variant infected by case 18.

Judging from the results of flow tracing and gene sequencing, case 18 is a new independent epidemic - "0118" epidemic.

Since the beginning of this year, Shenzhen has reported three independent outbreaks. As of 17:00 on January 19, no new cases associated with these three epidemics have been found, and the circulation traceability and investigation management are being carried out in an orderly manner.
